They start in 07 (new body style) HD trucks. I bought my 30K '08 Silverado HD LY6 about two years ago for $1400 +$50 each for the matching starter and ECM. The prices have gone up alot (IMO) on these engines. I found mine on www.car-part.com . If you don't use the "postal code" function, you get a broader search. What comes with them..? This all depends on the yard. Just be sure if you purchase one with the accessories, that you can actually use it in the swap project. FYI..... If you decide on keeping the VVT , you can use the new Camaro Accessory drive setup. www.paceperformance.com carries them.

I got mine for 1600 complete.

If you are going carb and deleting the vvt don't get a ly6. Safe some money and get a lq4 or lq9.

When I was looking for a LQ4/LQ9, all the yards I checked online wanted quite a bit more money with ALOT more miles on them. So in my case (before the LY6s caught on) the LY6 was cheaper. Especially considering I wanted to go L92/LS3 heads right away.

Mine was $1800 and had 34207KLM on it, a bit more then I was hoping but came with alternator, starter but no computer. Up here is Canada that was the going price for the 6-8 I found and most had more KM. They we not willing to budge on the price either.

A l33 was about 1100 the same place so I figured it was worth the extra to get he l92 heads and step upto the 6.0l

Looking at this and the years they were produced I would think a LY6 would have less miles since it's newer ?

The L96 is the new version of the LY6 with flex fuel. Maybe it hasn't caught on yet, but I doubt it.

Since you're ditching vvt, intake and the price of L92 heads are a given, maybe you could score a deal on an LQ4 or LQ9 short block and slap on the L92 heads. LQ9 has more compression than LQ4 and LY6/L96 as well. Don't forget to look at HD vans too for an LY6/L96!

I think alot of these Silverados are fleet vechicles Which is good. You see these LSx motors with well over 200K and these still run great.

Yeah, mine came out of a Fed Ex box body van. I still regret not getting a picture of that vehicle. Mine had less than 3000 miles on it and I paid $1800. It was complete, intake to oil pan but had not accessories besides the water pump and balancer. This was fine for me because I deleted VVT and went with F-body accessories and a carb.

From my build thread:

The big variable with the costs people report is not just mileage, but what's included. Some people get a long block with no accessories, some get some accessories, some with or without wiring harness, ecm, wreck damage, etc etc etc. You'll have to do your own research and decide what you are willing to spend.

I paid 1800 Can$ for my 27K miles, LY6, including the intake, starter, coils, alternator, waterpump, belt tensioner, flywheel, exh manifolds, and all sensors bolted to the engine. truck acc bracket would have been included but I didnt want it anyway.
DEFINATELY get an engine with oem L92 heads, LY6, L92, L96 etc.
I think the price you have bben quoted is high, but not if they include the acc and a harness to allow fuel injection in the future. the 10K miles is awesome.
