I mated a 2002 5.3 to a 700r4. I just used the stock flexplate, the Hughes spacer, elongated the flexplate to converter bolt holes. I also used a Bowtie Overdrive TV conversion cable. Follow the directions in the kit. No problems whatsoever.

My 700R4 has been built with an internal lockup kit. Fairly rare these days. No need for an external lockup kit.
