Default '95 240sx LS1 swap, need a no bullshit est.

I need a no bullshit estimation on how much a ls1/t56 swap into a 95 240sx would cost. No A/C required.

Thanks,

C.

are you doing the swap? and you just need a price for everything, or are you looking at estimated cost for everything

Yeah i mean you have to give a lil more info, labor at a shopp could be very high for a swap like that, i dont see why you couldnt get a good drivetrain for 3200,3500 i havent looked in awhile but im pretty sure you will be around there,

3500-4000 for a decent motor and trans
3400 for Sikky everything
650 basic Chasebays harness

Plus more misc. stuff you'll need along the way. These are just rough estimates from off the top of my head.

Would be doing the swap ourselves. It's my friends 240, he's tired of the whole turbo 4-banger world and has wanted an LS1 for a long time, he's selling his motor and saving up for a swap. Was just looking for an overall price, someone who's done it would be great.

Thanks,

C.

I'd say 8-9k done right with high end parts

It's always better to overestimate so you don't run out of money or if something goes wrong

Got my ls1 running in my 240 for 7K, that was a bone stock LS1/T56 ecu and harness I picked up for 3K, sikky swap kit, 3,400, and I did my own wiring, spent extra 600 on power steering pump, walbro fuel pump, frame connectors, and a simple exhaust. gauges not working, was using my scantool to see temps and rpm, went with autometer gauges later on.

I now have about 18k in it, with silvia conversion, stroker kit, heads, cam, intake, a1000 fuel pump, etc.

after getting it running had a bug in the wiring, it would ramdomly die for no reason, so instead of figuring out what was wrong I bought a painless hot rod LS1 harness was about 600, a little expensive but cleaned up the install and was pain free, came with relays and fuses to power everything on the LS1, and labeled fuel pump wires, only had to run signal wire to alternator.

I would budget $10,000. Yes you can do it for less depending on the drivetrain and how much you do yourself. There are way too many variables in the swap to give a concrete answer. One other thing you will want to address is the brakes on these cars. They suck and with LS power you need to be able to stop.

I ended up with $50,000 in my 97 Kouki but I basically rebuilt the whole car with everything new and the best parts I could get. It can snowball in a hurry if you let it. Trust me I know. I started out wanting to spend half that.

too many variables.

we just got one going in my friends car for like $3k. maybe less

used mounts and headers, bought a wrecked camaro and parted it out, did all the work ourselves, including wiring.

he had more money laid out initially, but most of the camaro sold in a few months, along with other parts we didnt need from the 240.

I would say 10k too. But I like Brewsters idea. Buy a wrecked car and part it out. Another idea is the truck 5.3L. Not much more weight in the block, still has good heads, and save a ton of money. You can pick one up used for $500, while the LS1..you're fighting to find one under $1500. Should your friend come across money, swapping full aluminum would be easy.

DO IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME!
dont skimp out on the motor either, get a good low mile one, or be ready to do some rebuild work,

i got my car mostly done for 9G's with 100k s13 chasiss and 25k 02 vette motor, and still have put 4 grand to fix the F*** ups or cut corners

get dakota speedo correction box, its a great part

I spent about 11K on my S13 just on my LS Swap. All parts new except the bare block complete DIY on the labor. Took about 7 months to complete.

For as it sits reference :
LQ9 from LKQ insides looked like death for being "low miles"
LQ9 Complete OEM Rebuild with all new internals
GTO Oil Pan, Pickup, Windage Etc
LS6 Valley Cover
243 Heads
Howards ASA Cam
CTS Acc Drive
Hooker Headers
Slide Motorsports Mounts w/Delrin S13 Mounts (hooker had S13 problems when I needed mounts)
LS3 Water Pump
Vette Balancer
Found rebuilt LT1 to LS1 converted T56
Monster STG 2 Clutch
Wilwood Clutch Master with silviav8 mounting bracket
New 411 PCM with Frost Tune
3" to FM 3 to 3.5 Merge to Apexi GT Spec 3.75 exhaust
New Gauges (Speedhut)
PSI Standalone Harness with complete removal of the OEM engine control wiring and tuck into dashboard.
Taurus Fan
Holley Valve Covers
Typhoon Intake
SVO 32lb "red devil" injectors
NW102 TB
AIRAID DIY Intake Tube
Powermaster Mini Starter
AEM Wideband

All the little ****, throttle cable, plugs & wire, additional wiring, bolts, brackets, fluids, AN hoses & fitting, hoses, HEAT PROTECTION etc has blown my "price target" every time. I say price target because to do it right budget and LS swap do not go together on an S chassis.

I reused stuff from my prior SR20 and VH45 Swap:
Griffin Radiator
Kyosan denso supra fuel pump

Here's mine for reference.....first carb then EFI

sorry for SHITTY pic
