Default 74' Laguna S-3, LQ4 6.0L, GT4294 turbo Build

Hey Guys! I'm new to this site and would love to share and learn as I go through my turbo LS turbo swap in my 74' Chevelle Laguna S-3. Originally I built a 454BB pushing 600hp, but now with everything else I own being turbo I want to make this project a sleeper with at least 800hp.

Here is what is in the car currently

Motor is out

More pictures coming in the next two weeks!!!

I can't wait to see how the build goes.

I put one in my 77 El Camino.

Good luck!

gt4294 is very small for these motors. if you havent bought yet i urge you to strongly reconsider. at the very least step up to a gt4202 or look at the borg warner turbos.

Should be a sweet build. I really like your car choice.

Good luck!

When I got my first turbo car, '06 Subaru legacy GT, I sold my SBC out of my RX-7 and replaced it w/ a 4 banger turbo (sr20det). I've been sold on the fact there's replacement for displacement... good turbos.

Good luck on your build, can't wait to start my own LS* forced induction build!

HioSSilver, I loved the big block, but she was getting very tired and tended to overheat quite a bit. Even with a great cooling set up, she would run very hot.

LILHEMI, I did a little research and saw people were running 70mm turbos and getting good numbers. Why wouldn't you recommend this one?

This is my first V8 turbo build, so I am open to all tips and suggestions!

lot of backpressure when you use that small turbine with a bigger motor. even if you step up to the 4202 (which is the exact same dimensions physically) its worth an extra 150 horse at higher boost with no loss of spool. gt4292 is an EXCELLENT high horse turbo in the import world. it just loses its luster when put on a v8 because of backpressure issues.

LILHEMI: Makes sense, I got a stupid deal on a new gt4292 ( $500.00 ). I have it already, but I will look into selling it and purchasing the gt4202, because I want to hit the 800hp range. Which I don't think my gt4292 would reach that goal....do you think it would??

no thats a high dollar one. just a journal bearing 4202 will work. i would look at the borg warner turbos if i were you. an s475 would do you right.

I will be watching your progress as I build my sons 75 a-body ls swap. It will be nice to bounce ideas of someone else doing the same swap.
