Yea much older than I thought 2016... One actually had a belt poking through in a small spot I had missed. Had planned on trying the MT non-DOT radial slicks, but these popped up for $400 so I had to jump on them.

Last event of the year and I broke big. Never fails! Near as I can tell the rear U-joint failed. It was a sealed spicer unit. No idea why it let go. Broke the trans case and took out the drive shaft.

Pulled trans and went ahead and bought an SFI case. Was on sale for $750 shipped through summit. Went ahead and bought an upgraded 7 bolt pump for the glide and all new clutches and steels. Luckily the aftermarket gear set looked great. It's ready to go should be a pretty darn stout unit now.

Sent my converter back to PTC for a restall as well. Went from a 14 to a 17 stator. Should loosen it up 800-900 rpm. Curious to see if I can finally rev this thing over 6500 rpm.

Also picked up a 3.80 gear to try. I'll stick with the 3.64 in it currently to see how it acts.

They were... Kinda. The driveshaft was anyway. Was using the original yoke on the 9" rear so I had 1310 to 1350 adaptor. Went aftermarket on the yoke on the rear now and will be running 1350's all around.

In my defense I ran a similar "weaker" serviceable 1310 to 1350 U joint with the grease fitting for like 7 years on this car with no issues. I replaced it with the "stronger" non serviceable unit last year. I couldn't find any grease in the thing. I think it slung it out and thats what caused the failure.

Glad you are okay, this is why we have DS loops.

What intake on the car, stock truck? Do you run C02?

The shaft actually let go at the top of the track at 145ish mph. Was very scary to say the least!

LS6 intake. No CO2.

On a side note a buddys rx7 5.3 just put down some serious 1/8th times. 5.4x’s at 28lbs! He is on a gen4 5.3. LS1 intake, no intercooler, VSR S480, LJMS stg2 cam. 10 “budget” PTC converter and revving it out to 7800! I can’t imagine the LS6 intake is holding me back with his results. My cam and 2” divided hot side may be an issue though. Time will tell!

The LS1 intake is FAR inferior to the LS6. Good call!

That looks like it was scary!!

I broke my share of 1310's before I went 1350.

I really like following this thread, I have personally seen Rotary1307cc's Mazda, and am very impressed with these little cars...

Not much action this year but I was able to get out and squeak off some 156 mph passes. Still ironing out the 60' But the little 4.8 is making some power. This was 22lbs. Would have been my 8 sec goal if the 60' was there. Dropped down to a 28" tire and a summit stage 2 cam. Def. helped. Shifting at 7k and around 7 at the finish.

Nice to see you are still at it.

Looks like you need to leave on more sauce to get 8.9s.

I’m trying! 2 year old takes up a lot of the race time these days.

Had to lower the car after putting a 28” tire on it. Ends up being a giant pain. Have to recenter rear, set bars to neutral, reset pinion angle etc etc… I had been on some old 275 MT DR’s and fighting myself constantly for traction. With literally no changes and a new set of MT pro-comp radial slicks it dead hooks. Seems this is a trend with me. New drag radials work great on my car and I can net some 1.3x’s pretty consistently. Then the tires gone in 10-15 passes. It’s such a shame! I can’t afford new $400+ tires every 15 passes! I removed all my traction aids… boost and timing ramps and bumped the 2 step up. It dead hooked several 1.3x’s but pulls right. Need to add preload in that ladder and dial it back in for wheel up launches. Just haven’t had the time to tune it in. No real test and tune days.

I’m sure if I had better suspension and the car was setup well I wouldn’t need new tires to make it hook. But it’s funny that’s always been the determining factor with this car!

People tell me the sidewalls go pretty quick with some tires.

I threw some low pass Pro Bracket Radials on my car, I don't expect to make any real fast passes on them, I'll plan to swap new tires when I go for gold.

I'm interested in radial slicks, how do you like them.

They seem great so far. Only 1 track visit and maybe 50 street miles on them though. These were new 28” tires. They drive just like my radial. I will say I was caught in the rain once and that was a little sketchy. Aside from ZERO performance in wet conditions (which is expected I know) They seem great. Local bracket racer said he got much better tread life and consistency with them. (over the MT pro DRs) So I gave them a shot. We will see.

Capn Obvious comment, but I've been told a few times by tire folks that driving on drag tires hardens them. I am hoping next year to have 2 sets for rims for the '67, the track tires and the street driving tire.

Is this still on the 2" hotside? I'm about to buy my piping and don't want to undersize it.

L33/799 engine, 227/231 .600 @ 112 cam, VSR Billet 80mm dual Vband 1.30 housing, gen 3 truck intake, E85. Looking to run 700whp but don't want to hit a wall until 950whp if I get a wild hair up my ***.

Do you feel it was the cam the entire time or was it the 2" hotside causing the "wall" you felt?

Just split between 2" and 2.25"

Wish I knew... I no longer hit a wall as low as I once did...but still falls flat at 7100-7200ish. My gearing/intake still isn't ideal either. Honestly I feel 2" is plenty for 700whp. If I Were shooting for 900+ i wouldn't use 2" again. The actual ID is also smaller than 2". 2.125 would be more ideal IMO, but it's not practical or cheap like 2.25". If I were to do it again I'd just go with 2.25" to each side of the scroll. With 2 cheap 38mm gates and be done.

I did trap 156 last outing a few times at 3100lbs. Easy 8 sec pass with a good 60'.

I'm very happy to see this bumped too. I read every post from the start in this thread and the 2.5" crossover threads. TONS of good information in both!

I think it's possible for sure to grab that 8.
