59belair, I read your entire thread and you have given me a ton of new ideas for my build. What seats are you using? Im new to spraying paint, so I could use some help on the All-You-Need polyester primer/sealer. Whats a good gun that will get the job done ect... I'll pm you also. Your 59 is absolutely beautiful and your fabrication is second to none. In the past, I've used Spray Can Eastwood primers so shooting paint from a gun is all new for me. I like the properties of the All-you-need primer and it does not come in a spray can. Thanks for the help and sharing your build thread!

Very nice biscayne! How did you like the BP harnesses? My understanding is BP harnesses are one of the best... As for your gauge cluster, how did you make it? A metal insert that fit in the hole where the stock gauges went and then cut holes for each gauge?

Gauge cluster is from a sheet of aluminum , I used some cardboard from a Corn Flakes box for a pattern, drew circles on it till it looked right. I ordered a clock even to just use up the space closer to the passenger. The sheet covered all the original holes, I counter sunk the holes for the pan head screws and used panel adhesive to hold them in place then mounted the panel to the GM dash.

Norm, do you have any pictures of your process when you made the instrument cluster plate? That would help me out alot. I was thinking of using Dakota Digital gauge cluster, but I always wanted to do a setup like yours and use the gauges I wanted. Plus your gauge cluster is much cheaper than the Dakota Digital setup. What front bench seat are you using? Stock? Im trying to find a stock split bench seat since my belair came with shitty 80s half assed mounted seats. So I pulled them out and noticed two of the original bench seat mounts are gone.... So if I cant find a nice 64 split bench seat, I'll go with a Chevelle split bench setup since I have to make new mounts anyways.

I don't have the cardboard template anymore. All I did was cut up a cereal box and then taped them together for the pattern. Yes the front bench is stock, that's also changed, I replaced the black with a oem color replacement. Where are you located? There's a forum for Impala's/Belairs and I'm sure you could get a factory seat that your looking for.

Norm, I'm from Oklahoma city. Im a member on 348-409 Forum. Another great site but small. Tons of info there. Most of the 348-409 guys are just that, all about stock/factory parts but they are a ton of knowledge. I'll join the facebook group you mentioned. Thanks for the info. What thickness was the aluminum plate for the gauge cluster?

Aluminum sheet was 1/8 inch. Same thickness as a paint stir stick from Home Depot. There's a story there about me using one for a measuring stich. It Fits into a corner, mark it with a pencil, sand it off for the other corner. Those dashes are not square.
