LOVE that vid Andrew! That little "wiggle" when releasing the e-brake brought back tons of memories of my first car -- '55 Chev shoebox. I know the box is dog ring - helical or straight cut gears? Reminds me of what it looks like when I shift my DD/newer car without using the clutch at all -- just gentle/slow pressure on the shifter and it slips easily/quietly into the next higher gear. Similar on downshifts except a bit of heel/toe (really one side of the foot/the other side of the foot) needed to rev match on the downshift. Use the engine to get the gear speed higher than it needs to be then gentle pressure and as soon as the revs match - presto, it drops into gear.
It has helical cut gears, but at a reduced angle, hence the gear noise. Sort of the difference between a Muncie M21 and M22. Us OGs (old geezers) know what that means...LOL

HUGE impression made on me as a young teenager circa 1970 - a friend of my older brother's had a 1969 SS Chevelle - 396/375HP with the rock crusher trans and 4.10 gears. My first ride in that was in the back seat - brother and his buddy in the front. The sights, sounds and smells of banging off 3 shifts at high rpm in that big block were memorable!

The same older brother was just telling me the other day the same thing. We were talking about the cars of our youth that left an impression and I mentioned his buddy's Chevelle. He said "Your brick would chew that thing up and spit it out!" Nevertheless, at the time, it damn sure got my attention.

I am visiting my buddy John in Orlando over New Years. The plan is to wrench a little in his well equipped shop. I want to re-do the way the upper column tube attaches to the Toyota motor, and also fabricate a mount off the pedal box that will support the column in the middle.
Most of the installations that I have seen don't seem to pay much attention to the mechanical aspect of the EPAS installation. Having done mine, I look back at what other open e have done, and it seems down right scary. Before the EPAS, I never felt any shake in my column, now there is some shake that is present under various conditions. I think this is due to the fact that the column is now in 3 pieces, instead of being one solid tube. This introduces flexing, which is not optimal.

Since you were talking about the module that is out there to dial in the sensitivity with a dial... I wonder if that dial is just a 0 to 5 volt potentiometer? If so then a fairly simple little gizmo to convert VSS to a 0 to 5 volt is doable giving speed sensitive steering.

Ok, caught up with your thread. It was long, but very enjoyable.
Page 37 had that burnt out fuse holder. I bought a couple so I'm going to sacrifice one to see how it was assembled. Thanks for bringing that up.
