Default Gen IV LS in '66 Chevelle

I'm a newbie on the forum so I'm posting this as kind of an introduction. I'm building an E-Force supercharged LSA-block based motor for a '66 Chevelle. Here's a link to a blog of my engine build progress to date. If I get any thumbs-up, I'll post updates. The engine should be finished by winter, then it's on to car mods.

Thumbs up. I clicked on your photo link. Is that up to date?
Where's pictures of the car?

Thanks,

Doug

Doug,

That link is up to date, just not much progress lately. Last night I started filing my file-to-fit ring package which at about only one hour each evening will take me many evenings to complete! More pictures will follow when I install the pistons. I don't have a car yet, that's why there are no pictures of it! I'm looking at a car this weekend. I started on the engine first because that's what I enjoy working on the most. Next time I'll post pictures directly. Stay tuned...

Your build has been an inspiration to me! I keep reading and re-reading that thread to get ideas! And I loved that short video of the burnout!

Default Some progress on the engine build...

The LSA crank has an 8 bolt flywheel flange; most LS cranks have 6 bolt flanges. Those are ARP bolts

Measuring ring end gap.

Filing a ring to get to the desired end gap.

After installing about six of these Kramm-Lox retainers, I finally got the hang of it.

One Carrillo rod, CP piston and ring package ready for installation later this weekend.

LSA head with YellaTerra full roller rockers over a Lingenfelter sourced dual spring set with titanium retainers. Just test fitting here, I'm still waiting for the Morel lifters

That's part of the Edelbrock E-Force supercharger kit. I have an unused, stock LS3 valley cover if anyone is interested ;-)

BTW, I finished my short block over the Thanksgiving holidays, pictures to follow. My Morel 5206 lifters shipped so I can soon get on with installing the heads and finalizing the valve train...

Default Finished the short block

Measuring rod bearing diameter.

That ARP tapered ring compressor made installing the pistons soooo easy!

It really helped to have another set of hands on this part of the project.

Guiding the rod home to avoid nicking the crank.

I was able to bend the oil squirters so that they cleared the piston pin boss.

Don't those CP pistons look nice nestled in their cylinders?

All rods and pistons installed.

Summit Racing rod bolt stretch gauge

I kept creeping up on the torque and measuring the rod bolt stretch until I got within spec.

I settled on 0.0055" of stretch.

Windage tray and oil pickup tube installed.

A finished 6.2L LSA short block.

Nice build, I'm enjoying it while I'm learning.
