Default Project: Black Power (LS1 S10)

This is the daily driver, a 2000 S10 with a 98 corvette LS1 and 20001 Camaro SS T56. I put alot of time into it to make it the ultimate daily driver, including fully functional AC, PS, nice interior, stereo, and still handle, brake and accelerate well, while getting over 20MPG. It has been through many transformations but I havent posted about it till now since its basically done, almost.

*98 c5 LS1
*01 Camaro SS T56
*Modified stock driveshaft
*7.5 rear with moser axles and diff cover
*Ported/polished TB
*Custom 4 inch intake
*Sandersons 1 5/8 shorty headers modified for v-bands
*Hand built exhaust from headers back to tail pipes. 3 mufflers and a resonator
*Walbro 255lph pump
*Racetronix Hot Wire kit

Suspension/Brakes/Steering:

*C5 brakes on all 4 corners
*Hydraboost from Chevy 3500 Van
*Aftermarket power steering cooler
*Custom bent and flared brake hardlines
*Custom PS lines
*Custom steering shaft and joint
*Custom stainless brake lines
*New control arms, ball joints, and steering links
*Tubular upper control arms with teflon bushings
*2 inch drop spindles
*Blazer front 33mm sway bar with poly
*Blazer rear sway bar with poly
*Moog front springs
*C10 ball joints
*2 inch drop blocks
*C6 wheels

Other:

*Tuned with HPTuners using a Wideband
*Black leather electric RX8 seats
*10 inch sub, amp, CD Player, and Polk Audio/Kenwood speakers

I really like how your step shavers and ground effects are flat gun metal, kind of reminds me of a modern Syclone.

The name of this truck really offends me. Therefore you should have to take it down and name it something else. lol

Sorry not trying to offend anyone, so my apologies up front. Its a black truck with power...so it made sense, and yes pun intended ha ha

Im doing a ton of work to the truck right now so more pictures to come. Nitrous yanked off and sold. Finishing the front spoiler which will also be plastidipped athracite grey. Then a little suspension work, a solid home grown alignment, and then just driving it for a while. Need to finish the turbo 300zx. Then I will probably throw a half way remote turbo under the truck and do a Blazer fuel tank swap to get better weight distribution to the rear and less to the drivers side!

Little surface rust comes right off

RX8 seats installed. Cut and welded S10 brackets to the bottom of them

Proform corner weight scales. Determing the verticle center of gravity here

I like the way those rx8 seats sit in there. I would imagine that they are comfortable, given that this is your daily driver and you put them in there on purpose.

And I could be wrong, as I have been many times, but I'm pretty sure you can kiss your little 7.5" axle goodbye if you put even the most mild of turbos on your S10. Might invest in the f-word exploder 8.8 rear end... It has 3.73's and an lsd, too.

Sweet truck, though. I really need to go get my S10 and do something similar.

Ya right now its the 7.5 with moser aftermarket axles and an aluminum diff cover. My fusible link is tires, traction is not good. As soon as I put traction to it I bet the stock 7.5 would die without turbos, I am aware. I am planning exactly what you said. 8.8, shortened 3 inches on the long side with equal length axles redrilled for chevy bolt pattern, shitty posi trac garbage maybe shimmed a bit.

No one went under the vehicle, plus the truck would not have gone anywhere given the blocks broke...there was an engine hoist with straps holding the front end up by the frame rails.

You can re-pack the posi with the cobra carbon clutch discs, which helps some. Best bet would be a detroit locker with a Ron Sutton spring kit.

Thanks for the recommendation! I will definitely look into that when the time comes. I am actually looking at the LSA supercharger with the adapter plates from member Third-Gen instead. I already have C5 accessories so all I need is the LSA crank pulley, LSA belt tensioner, and the adapter plates to make it work. I am going to start slowly gathering parts while I finish the 300zx project.

I am wondering if I should stick with the leafs in the back or build a 4 link. Not really looking to get too crazy with the truck as its the daily driver, so I am looking for lower time intensive modifications so it stays on the road more often than not. But once the 300zx is done, I can actually put it down for a few weeks to do a rear end swap and the supercharger isntallation.

So after true calculations where performed to accurately find the center of gravity height, how far off was it from the height of the camshaft?

Forget about the 4-link. An offset 3-link and a watts link with a chassis mounted bellcrank is what you want/need. It's actually what every car with a Flintstones axle needs.

Better articulation. Better response. More adjustable.

Head over to the lat-g forums and read Ron Sutton's suspension threads. You will understand why.

I have that exact 8.8 for sale already done, but Florida to Houston is a long haul.

Cool thanks for the feedback, I will check it out. And ya I have recently been introduced to the watts link and really like the idea. I will start looking into it further. Thanks!

With a little bit of ingenuity, you can incorporate the watts link connections into the coilover mounts on the axle.

As you research the watts link, pay attention to the two different styles.

One design has the bellcrank on the differential cover, with the links connecting to the frame.

The other style, and the one I prefer, has the bellcrank mounted to the frame and the links connecting to the axle.

Put the bellcrank on a ratchet-adjustable vertical slider for easy instant center adjustments.

Love the truck. I've never seen anyone use those seats before. They look great. In for updates.
Nice job.

Well the update is currently that the truck is for sale! I need a 4 door vehicle and have another 2 seater project car that needs to be finished. I will be losing probably 8 grand on this truck but I guess thats the name of the game

It was approximately 30 inches from the ground. So a little higher than the camshaft center line, I think like 5 or 6 inches higher
