Default Honda crz ls build

Hello everyone,

I joined this forum, because I'm seriously considering a dual engine setup in my Honda CRZ. It currently has a 1.5L hybrid engine that makes a measly 140hp. I thought about taking that engine out and swapping with a v8. I have 3 donor vans to work with. 2007 Chevy Express, 2002 Dodge, 1999 Chevy Express. I believe their all v8's.

But lately, I've been more interested in a different setup. I thought about rear mounting the engine to the rear and giving power to only the RWD. My current engine is FWD. So essentially, I might be able to get 135hp to the front and 350-450hp on the back wheels. I also get to keep my guage stock. I'll use the LSX as actually a boost for the original engine.

I'd like to know if this is possible and ever been done. Dual engine with vastly different power ranges.

If so, please let me know.

My second option is saying goodbye to my 1.5L and hybrid battery and front mounting the LS.

BTW, mine is 2015.

Im all for doing crazy stuff but rear mounting an engine is way more work and time and money than you realize. Unless you've been a fabricator your whole life... goodluck. That being said i would love to see progress on this though

That would be my choice. That car is way overweight for its size, presumably due to the batteries and additional hybrid systems. Add another engine and you're talking about a small car that weighs as much as an SUV/truck. If you want this to be a fast and fun car to drive, you're going to have to put it on a serious diet.

100% agree with this. In this situation, the engine would have to be able to drop down and out, meaning removable sub-frame. That means lot of work, designing and money (even if you do it yourself). And trust me, I know....

Front mounting an LS would be better but you are still left with adding a trans tunnel and rear end, which also means rear arms and spindles will be custom. Lots of custom stuff no matter how you looks at it.
