Used LQ4 H/C/I vs TSP 408 shortblock
First off I just purchased a 99 SS roller. It was originally a m6 car and I plan on going back with t56 for the build. It has the stock 10 bolt rear as of now but will be upgrading to the Moser 12 bolt with a 4.11 gear. It will be a street/strip weekend car that probably won't see 5000 miles a year.
My goal is to be somewhere close to 500whp. Mid to low 11's at the track.
Now to my question, I have done a ton of researching around the net and have came to either buying a used lq4/9 and doing a h/c/i swap and maybe a 150 shot... Or just purchase a TSP 408 short block and do a complete build.
Is the extra cost to build the stroker worth it?
Are the forged internals in the 408 a bit overkill for my goal??
Can I do the used lq4 and still be reliable?
By the way this will be my first complete engine build! I am fully confident that I can take my time and do it right.
Any input/advice is greatly appreciated.

I'd do the TSP 408 shortblock.

So if I did the used 6.0 with flat tops for cr bump, L92 heads, custom spec cam, and ls3 intake I could end up close??
If not what would be the "right" hci combo for my goal?

OK so say I run the texas speed PRC ported L92 heads and custom cam, ls3 intake. Would getting new forged pistons with valve guides cut be worth it to run a bigger cam with the heads, or should I stick with stock piston and be limited on the amount of cam I can run?
