Default Does original piston order matter if replacing bearings and rings?

Unfortunately during my recent trip to Europe, my phone was stolen with all engine disassembly pics. If I plan to replace the journal bearings and rings, does the piston order really matter?

Thanks

Typically not a fan of re-ringing as the rings become matched to the original piston grooves and new rings won't settle in the same. If you aren't going to get new pistons anyway, then is not really going to matter which hole they go in anyway in the grand scheme of things with your budget.

Yes it does. You should have a balanced rotating assembly if it was done right to start with. Now your not balanced.

gm balances pistons in batches. they take all the ones weighing like 421g and stick em in a bin. then they do the same with rods and cranks and match 'em up. it ends up pretty damn close. kinda the same way roller bearings are made, if you've ever watched that episode of how it's made.

just make sure to orient the pistons in the bores correctly, and put 'em in.

Exactly...talk of balance is nonsense. All the pistons will be the same weight !
