Default BMW E36 M3- LS1 swap wiring questions

Building an E36 M3 with an LS1 and GTO T56. Just started wiring last night. I am a beginner at best with wiring, so I figured I'd ask some questions here as well, and hopefully get some more traffic versus my build thread on Bimmerforums, which is here if anyone is curious:

http://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/sh...into-an-E36-M3

It's a 1999 C5 harness from a T56 car, converting to truck MAF, and DBC, running a PCM I got out of a Silverado in the junkyard with the red/blue harness.

Here's what we eliminated so far, let me know if you see issues.

Blue connector:
Pin 14: Throttle actuator control serial data
Pin 15: Throttle actuator control serial data
Pin 17: Transmission range signal B
Pin 18: Transmission range signal C
Pin 25: O2 sensor low bank 2 sensor 2
Pin 28: O2 sensor low bank 1 sensor 2
Pin 32: PRND A input signal
Pin 33: TCC brake switch
Pin 34: PRND P input signal
Pin 38: Powertrain induced chassis pitch signal
Pin 53: Transmission temp sensor ground
Pin 62: Extended travel brake switch signal
Pin 65: O2 signal high bank 2 sensor 2
Pin 68: O2 signal high bank 1 sensor 2
Pin 72: PRND B input signal
Pin 79: 2nd and 3rd gear block out solenoid

Red connector:
Pin 2: TCC control solenoid
Pin 4: AIR solenoid relay control
Pin 6: Trans fluid pressure control solenoid low
Pin 8: Trans fluid pressure control solenoid low
Pin 9: Fuel pump relay control
Pin 36: Air pump relay control
Pin 42: TCC enable circuit
Pin 44: Reverse inhibit solenoid control
Pin 47: 1 to 4 upshift lamp
Pin 48: Transmission shift solenoid A
Pin 50: Vehicle speed output circuit
Pin 51: Trans temp sensor signal
Pin 54: Fuel level sensor signal
Pin 62: PRND C input signal
Pin 63: Transmission range signal A
Pin 73: Fuel level sensor signal

Need to do some research on the fan setup, my buddy is thinking it will be much simpler to run the fan off an external controller versus involving the PCM. Any downside to this?

I would like to add A/C at some point in the future, so I want to keep that wiring as well.

I would think you would want to keep the TCC and Reverse inhibit as that controls your reverse lock out solenoid. I know my harness from PSI kept those connections intact. I will let someone with more knowledge on the PCM chime in with details.

I was planning to delete the lockout solenoid, but modify the spring so that there's still a physical lockout.

You could just add a cheap switch or button and keep the solenoid.

Anyone familiar with the C5 connectors? I'm having a lot of trouble finding any sort of diagrams or pinouts for these.

Here's the ones I don't know- guessing the one on the right is the C100?

It was a T56 harness, did they come with the auto trans plug anyway?

Badass build thread with the '77 BTW, read a lot of it last week. Nice work.

No, but could it have been modified to run an automatic at some point? it controls the solenoids & pressure switches inside the transmission.

Can you post a front-on shot of the far left plug?

Thanks. I am reading your swap thread right now. I'm new to BMW's with the e34 touring this year, but I'm excited for swapping one.

The far right connector is C1 of the underhood fuse block. It should be a 68 pin black connector. The other two are probably c142. Do they connect to each other? C142 is the connector that interfaces the engine harness with the trans/fuel tank harness. Also c150 uses that same connector and it's for a/c and traction control stuff.

I went ahead and did it the old fashioned way today, and traced everything backwards from the plugs into the rest of the harness. I'll get the pinout posted up shortly, in case anyone else ends up using this harness to swap, since I had zero luck finding anything besides a PCM pinout list and an engine wiring diagram for the C5.

Maybe I'm not sure what you couldn't find but I logged into Autzone MyZone Repair Guides and was able to find all of the wiring schematics for a 1999 C5.

I'd post a direct link but I don't think it'll work if you're not logged in.

Here's the Repair Guide landing page.

It's free to create an Autozone MyZone account.

Here is everything I have for the C5 its almost every electrical pinout and diagram available for that year.

Fuse box diagrams for that car are not in the GM or Alldata programs. I just spent an hour going over it all to try to find one for you

Thanks everyone for the help. Here's the spreadsheet that I put together, again, this is for the body connectors for a 1999 Corvette with a T56.
