Default 1971 Chevy K10 4X4 LS Swap

Hello I have a 1971 Chevy K10 single cab long box. I have a 6.0 from a 02 Chevy 2500 that is soon to be swapped in. I am in the process of fabricating a fuel tank and I am mounting it in between my rear axle and bumper, underneath the box. I am wondering what the best fuel pump is to use. I was going to get a stock 2002 chevy fuel pump and make the tank accordingly. The problem I run into is the tank hanging too low or being too low dimensions wise. Wondering what other people are doing and are using that works well for them. Thanks, Thee71

A 5th Gen. Camaro is 6-7" tall and is a returnless system, it can be adapted to work by using the vaporworx kit, already has a internal filter, only 1 fuel supply line needed, cheap take-offs for around $50-$75 on the camaro forums. Ready parts supply at most any major auto parts house.

Yes something like that, not sure about that exact part number but any 5th Gen. Camaro fuel module, not sure if it matters if it is a v6 or v8? Look up vaporworx and they have full write ups and part numbers on converting the fuel module to work, they also sell the parts to convert the fuel module and the parts for the fuel module tray that you can weld into your existing tank.

I bought a used take off fuel module from one of those Camaro forums for I think $75 shipped to my door and converted it to work by myself after I bought the parts from vaporworx I think for around $60, I bought a tank from Ricks Tank.

My car had been done for years with a in tank pump and the Corvette fuel pressure regulator and a supply and return line. With the 5th Gen. set up I eliminated the return line and the Corvette fuel pressure regulator, if the 5th gen. stuff had been available when I first did my car I would have saved over a $150.00 just in the Corvette fuel pressure regulator, fittings and hose, so now it's a much cleaner install, less parts and for me the best part is I eliminated about 6 possible line connections where there is always is a chance for a fuel leak and we know where fuel leaks lead to. Also those fuel modules are widely available both used and new at any parts or G.M. Dealer and you can't beat O.E.M. reliability.

I put a 2002 Tahoe pump and sender in my 72 Blazer tankk. They are much shallower than the Silverado senders.

I have seen guys use the older G-van tanks and the older K5 Blazer tanks with those older trucks to get the tank out of the cab. Both of those tanks were mounted in the rear behind the axle. I believe the K5 tank is about 16 gallons. The smaller 110" wheelbase van had a 22 gallon tank. The longer 125" van had a 33 gallon option. All 3 came with TBI engines. Swap a pump for a 1993 4.3 "W" CPI Astro on to the TBI sending unit for the matching tank and you are good to go.

u can take the silverado/Tahoe assemblie apart and cut the metal portion with the springs down shorter. I had to do this with my custom fuel cell.

The 87 and up blazer tanks are set up for an in tank pump. Lots of square body owners mount them under the bed where the spare goes, should fit yours. I've seen some trick hidden filler ports in the tail lights. You loose your under bed spare though.

Do you know the height of the Tahoe fuel pumps?
