The Hooker Blackheart Fox Body crossmember that is used for PG/TH350/TKO installations will not fit, as shipped, into the narrower receiver brackets in the 79-81 model year cars. It is designed to be used with spacers that allow to be used in a multi-position manner in the wider receiver brackets 82-93 cars, but I have no idea if the end tubes can be shortened to fit it into the earlier narrow receiver brackets and still allow the center trans mount holes to line up correctly. I never had access to an early model car to prove that out during development.

I know Stifflers makes a TH350/PG crossmember for the 79-81 cars, but can't attest to how compatible it will be with the Hooker Blackheart engine brackets for obtaining the same engine/transmission inclination angle that would be provided through the use of the Hooker Blackheart transmission crossmember. As long as the center mounting pad of the Stifflers crossmember isn't too high in elevation, you can always shim the trans mount to get the height you need to achieve optimized U-joint working angles.

I'll document the installation of the Stifflers piece and give you some feedback. Its adjustable with spacers so I feel like it will work even if I have to modify it

Fair enough, I'll keep monitoring your progress.

Been a while, I have been working on the interior and body of the car. Finally got around to ordering the Holley mounts and found a trans crossmember on the site that I think will work. Ordered them today so I should have some pics up shortly.

Unless you change the transmission you are using from a TH350 to something else, that crossmember will not work for mounting your transmission. The The 71222015HKR crossmember is what is needed to mount a TH350 in a Fox Body.

Plans have changed and a TH-400 is going in behind the 6.0. I forgot to make that change above.

Will this oil pan work with the team z swap k member, 1/2 shorter mounts?

The link shows an error message only, what part number are you asking about?

I'm not familiar with that particular pan, but it appears to be a generic version of the Holley 302-1 oil pan. Assuming that is the case, you would only be able to use it with the Hooker Blackheart 1/2" drop engine mounting brackets for the Team Z K-member with a manual steering rack.

Todd,

I finally got the trans in with the crossmember. Thanks for all the R&D it fits like a glove. Just waiting on the spacer block to go under the trans mount. It almost looks like its high enough already.

That’s a good status report, you’re on a roll.
