Default Our LS1 Powered Trucks 72 Chevy 53 International

Here are a few pics of a couple more trucks were doing. Both are not finished yet, reason for body shop dust over the engine on the blue 72. We will have complete pics of both trucks before they leave the shop.

What long tube headers work on the 72 Chevy??? We know the Hooker shorties will work, but would love to do long tubes. The Jet Hots kick out too far.

Those black boxes are your basic, run of the mill 12v relays , very common and very inexpensive , you can get 'em any where.

I would also like a little info on the the swap on the '72. I'm concidering an LS1 or 6.0 swap in my '71 Chevy with an auto tranny.

Questions:
1. Motor mounts?
2. Tranny mount? (crossmember)
3. Driveshaft?
4. How much if you guys did the swap for me?

To answer a few questions.

The elbow is from a sprinkler system (not joking) They are about $20. The rest of the filter kit is made of tube and another sprinkler coupler and then a k&n.

Neither truck is finished, so no full pics yet. Note the body shop dust on the engine bay of the 72.

The relays are straight from a 98-02 f-body. They are for the fans, and fuel pump that the factory pcm controls.

The headers and mounts on the 72 are from Street and Performance. The 53 has mounts, and stainless headers built by BRP a sponsor here.

Swaps are hard to price, it varies with each vehicle and also differs on what headers, gauges, and type of fuel system you use. The El Camino's cost about $4200 for everything complete turnkey. I know a guy who does RX7's only and he says about $5000 for one of those, but it seems also to depend on where your located. The typical labor for the El Camino's is about $1800, the rest is parts.

badjuju342, Mike did you finish your convertible???

Thanks Scott

Still working on getting everything together. I 'm down to buying the exhaust , clutch( figured it would easier to replace it out of the car) , LS6 intake and TR224 cam. Couple of more months and I'm golden. Also wanting to do brake upgrades.

Does that price include the engine, transmission, and PCM?
