What do I need to swap a 2002 LS6 to a 1999 LS1?
I would like to take the different parts from a 2002 ZO6 and put them in my 1999 SS. Hopefully I am not asking something that has been talked about every other half hour here on the fourms.
I know some parts:
motor:
intake
cam
exhaust
tranny:
clutch
master cylinder???
I know there are a few motor and tranny items I can swap right in, can anyone here give me a little info????

i would take the motor, longblock with injectors, maf, ect.
You cant use the tranny, as the LS1 is a Motor/tranny/driveshaft/rearend unit. and the LS6 is motor/torquetube/tranny/rearend.
The LS1 and LS6 "in theory" are identical blocks as far as bolt patterns go, so it should be a simple swap as far as that goes.
Im not sure about flywheels, flexplates, ect, as the Ls6 from the Z06 will be set up for the vette drivetrain.
Im also not sure about how the computer will like the new maf, and injectors from the LS6, but thats nothing LS1edit should not be able to fix.

So instead of a drive shaft they have a torque tbe? What is that?
Your also saying I can just use the entire motor and drop it into my car????? I could get the motor really easily if this is the case.
I found out that the fly wheel, pressure plate, clutch and master cycl is all swappable.
So I can drop the motor in right?

You can swap in the entire longblock which includes...
engine block
heads
intake
coil packs
You cannot use the C5 TB, you need to keep your stock one. You cannot use the C5 crank pulley.
I am not sure about the location of the alternator. Is it the same place on both motors?
I do not know how the C5 / Z06 tranny's work.

Why don't you blow the money on a ARE motor, or build up the motor you have, swapping looks to be a pain in the ***....

The alt on the Ybody is up at the top of the engine bay, on the fbody its on the bottom drivers side.

ARE is a shop, Agostino Racing.
Getting back to the subject, I am guessing you can just reuse your stock alternator bracket then.

I'm also interested in this swap. I'd like to see it if anyone has done it or has pictures of someone that has. It's basically the same engine, so the only problems should be various brackets and such, right? Would the exhaust manifolds also have to be changed since it was designed for a Vette?

here's a dumb question, why not take the motors out, and swap from the intake (using the f car TB), to the oilpan. use the f- car headers.
Use the vette parts on the vette, (or throw away if your not replacing the motor in the Z06) and use the f car parts on the f-car, the blocks are the same design, so just bolt the f-car parts on the Y car motor, and bolt back in the f-car.

Prob 500.00, no more than that. I don't know how the motors get that cheap but I'm not one to ask questions.
I am passing on the idea however. I'm not out to ruin someones days... I have a funny feeling those motors are hot and it'd be a crime to have someone come outside and see their car missing, I'm not into screwing someone over for my benefit. juuuuust kidding
