WoW! congratulations on the photoshoot, I can wait to see the car.

I understand about the high elevation, can always apply the formula to figure out sea level. I plan to bring a helmet and knew about the long pants. Meeting up for the Poker Run sounds good to me. Last year it started at Summit and Atlantis was the next stop. Do you know if we can just start at Atlantis? We are just up the road at at S. Viginia and Plumb. For the meet at A&W last year, we just took a break in the middle of the Poker Run. I dropped my wife off at the Motel and went to A&W, then picked her back up after and headed for the next stop at the Chevy dealer. Give me a call on my cell 530 218-0641 on Tuesday night or Wednesday and we can make plans for the Poker Run.

Tell Omaha I said Hi, lived there for 8 years while in the USAF.

You're right, we do have to go to Summit first. Oh well, at least everything is close together in Reno. Looks like we could skip lunch at Harvey's in Lake Tahoe and go from there to A&W.

I wish I had a helmet. I'm itching to get this thing out to the strip. I was reading the street drag rules for Reno-Fernley and it looks like they can kick you out if you trap over 120, so that could be a problem, too. I don't know how much the altitude would hurt the car, though, nor do I really know how fast the car is to begin with. I'd say a 120 trap isn't out of the question, though.

Pat, you probably won't hear from me until Wednesday, since Tuesday I'm going from Denver straight to Reno, which is about 1000 mi. It's gonna be a long day. I think we might see some triple digit speeds on US 50 to make it shorter.

Well, According to the elevation correction table, 120 at 4500 feet is over 127 at sea level so you can calculate it that way based on what you think it might do. John B ran 11.5 at 122 in his Monte Carlo, but don't know what elevation.

If your head will fit in my helmet after getting the Car Craft photo shoot you are certainly welcome to use it. We can just take turns.

See you next week, drive safely

A little info on the track. The correction factors don't apply real well for the fernley track. It is actually uphill. The "drag" strip is just the front straight of the road course, but going in the opposite direction. To give you an idea, my 01' WS6 with 640 rwhp barely broke the 120 mark and into the 11's out there. I think my best was a 124ish. And that was a 50 degree night. Granted my race weight was almost 4000 pounds. Most guys run almost a full second or more quicker at sea level. Liter sport bikes generally run around 130 as another example, much slower than normal. I never wore a helmet either, so I wouldn't worry about it. Not saying you won't do it, but I'd be surprised. Very few cars out there do.
It is still a ton of fun though and the launch pad is usually prepped pretty good. I shot the pinion out of my 9" at the HAN drags a few years back.
See you guys Thursday!
Beautiful Camaro by the way, can't wait to see it!

If you could barely hit 120 with that sort of power it's not happening for me. My GTO has done 110 at 1200 here in Phoenix with 400 rwhp. I'd guess 100 more to the ground and about 500 less lbs would mean 120 here. Sounds like a good et at Fernley is not so great on paper. Good to hear that I should be OK with no helmet.

It'll be interesting to drive the car on the track to the first time. Who knows how well it'll stick out of the hole. Should be fun anyway.

KCG, Will be on the lookout for you. A bright yellow Buick should be easy to spot. See you up there.

We're making our way to Reno as I type this. We left Denver about two hours ago and rolling towards Grand Junction. It'll probably be another 12 hours to Reno. The car has been running great to this point, and I'm looking forward to finally gettiing to the show to see everybody.

I be on the lookout for everyone up there. No car this year as it's in frame off, but couldn't miss HAN. Getting up there late on Thursday and will be picking up my passes Friday with the swap meet and auction already lined up.

We are here too! Getting ready to head out to Summit fRacing or their Show&Shine. It's hot and muggy with clouds! Had to clean butterflies off the front of the car, hit a whole flock of migrating monarchs just past the Donner summit. Of course our Studebaker is so slick most of them just slid right over the top

See you around the town

We finally made it to HAN last night. It took us 15 hours to drive from Denver, just a tad over 1000 miles in all. It was one long day, LOL.

Anyhow, I'm just glad to be in town, and I'm looking forward to seeing the group tomorrow.

Glad you made it safe Chris, see you tomorrow. Here are some samplings of LS powered cars I've seen. To understand the one with the wood fuel rail covers, you have to see the Chevelle wagon done in a Tiki theme. The fellow with the Blue Z-28 said he would try to meet up with us on Thursday.

Yeah.. I saw that Tiki one and at 1st, I wasn't sure if it was painted or real wood, I had to as the owner..and it is painted.. great job of the whole care on the wood grain..

There were a lot more Gen III/IV converted cars this year.. They were in everything for a Ford Falcon to Deuce's to Tri-5's to many that people didn't expect it.. I will be posting my pictures up soon. just got back in town and will have to sort through all of my pictures.. !

In my opinion......Jody Bernard's Chevelle was the "Ultimate" LS powered at Hot August Nights..........

Default LS1Tech'er at the A&W during Hot August Nights!

Nice !...

Rocky... blow under 50 deg on the higyway and the engine temp stayed at 180 all the way up and back. Engine Temp came up on city cruising, (high 80's to low 90's), but traffice was not too good.. but Hey, windows down and hanging out of the windows was cool while driving around !

Here are some of the pictures from the 2008 HAN A&W meet .. You can see the rest of the photo's @ http://s190.photobucket.com/albums/z...08%20HAN%20AW/

The Owner of the A&W told us to park on the front lawn

But here are a few more, enjoy !

Here are some other shots from about and around HAN...http://s190.photobucket.com/albums/z...in/2008%20HAN/
