Considering a LSx swap, 240SX instead of an SR20/GT3071R
I have an email out to Hinson, they have pulled their faq/how to guides.
Some things are pretty well mentioned...others not really covered.
Is there a step by step out there?
Things like the p/s lines, a/c lines, how the throttle cable is setup, etc. The fine details. Most are only covering getting the mounts right and the clutch master.
If I don't go LSx, I will be going with an SR20DET...GT2871R or GT3071R, and upgrades. The final price is about $6-7k...it's looking like the LSx swap is close to $5k in parts and then whatever the motor/trans costs.

dont bother with a SR.
if you can fabricate at all, you can make your own mounts/modify your own crossmember and save yourself 1000+
all the information you need is on this board. just search around.

Better bang for the buck on the LSx route for sure.
Here is a mini collection of info by actual LSx 240 owners. (very last post.)

I am good at fabrication, but don't have any welding experience which seems needed. My neighbor is a body guy though. (the previous homeowner was a metal worker...I have 220V in three places in my workshop and outside deck...I was able to scrap about $400 in metal when I moved in ).
I am trying to find more info on the RB mount being altered vs hinson's. Many talk about not denting out the tunnel, but I don't want a forward sitting shifter.
I can't remember the swap I was in, but it had a shifter mounted about 3" forward of the center...it looked terrible and your knuckles would brush the dash.

its nowhere near that far forward. mine sits forward of center but its not bad. i actually just took my shifter, put it in a vice, hit it with a torch, and angled it back like 3 inches. problem solved.
heres a pic from before i finished the chassis wiring harness, ignore the bare wires, they are all loomed now lol
engine clears everything (hood, radiator, etc) im using a R33 crossmember and my own mounts.

Definitely go with the LS1 or some variant. You will be very pleased and parts are easy to come by which isn't always the case with the SR. If you need a motorset send me a PM. I am pulling the LS1 out of my 97 240SX and getting ready to drop in a L92 with VVT thanks to Mast Motorsports. I also have a spare T-56 I could let go and a few of the swap parts that I won't be reusing can go too.
