Default HEADERS GURU HELP 72 pick-up/LS1

Okay i need a fairly specific answer. I have a 1972 chevy truck with a 2001 LS1 mounted with CPP perch mounts. The stock exhaust, which i was hoping to use, wont fit anymore so i need help in finding a set of headers that will work. they need to stay up high and then drop off at the back. I know nothing about headers but here is a picture of my engine set in place.

Take this for whats its worth. I know pacesetter 99-07 silverado headers fit between the frame rails with one notch cut on the passenger side frame. However, that is with the motor pushed all the way against the firewall.

Check out the headers from www.sandersonheaders.com. They have a number of LS1 headers. Not all of them are listed on line, you may need to call and get their catalog. They are great to work with, I bought a set I needed to modify and they helped me with that and then ceramic coated them for me for a reasonable cost.

Doug Thorleys are the only sure fire fitting header for our trucks. Other wise frame notching or motor relocating is necessary. I've got Hooker F-bodies on mine and just like the Pacesetter F-bod's frame notching is necessary.

Guys using F Body headers- have you modified the drivers side collector at all? It curves in toward the frame. What have you done to match it up with existing exhaust

The Hooker long tubes I used had a damaged driver side collector. So I used a 3 to 2.5" coupling to correct the damaged collector and align the exhaust path on both sides.
