Default Edelbrock LS engine mounts

Anyone know the difference between the 6701 and the 6706 plates? Which ones are for the f-body? Are the same as the hookers? Thanks for any help. I've emailed edelbrock twice and spent 20 minutes on hold and finally gave up.

Thanks!!

The are similar to the Hookers, but not identical and the Edelbrocks look about a million times better. The Hooker adapter plates look like they were flame cut by a blind man. The Edelbrock plates look like they are laser cut and have a nice nickel coating.

Yeah I have seen the Hooker plates and they are not nice at all. I like the Edelbrock plates though. I have access to a Trumpf laser machine and can pretty much cut out anything from 1/8" to 1" steel, Stainless and or aluminum.

I have to tell though, Edelbrock was really difficult to work with. I finally got through to tech, and they claimed that (Edelbrock) hasnt produced anything yet for the 1st Gen Camaro?? WTF??? I'm reading about on Edelbrocks website as the tech is telling me they dont make it yet!! I took another twenty minutes on the phone to get the correct part numbers for LS engine plates.

6706, got a box of them right here. I called them and that is what they told me I needed. That was at least 2 months ago. Ordered the stuff through summit. The box says 67-69 f-body, 68-74 x-body. I had a set of hooker plates to compare them to, looked like they would set the motor about 1/2" or so father foward. which is kind of strange since they both claim to keep everything from the bellhousing back the same.

I wonder what the difference dimensionally is between the 6701 and the 6706? I cant think of anyone else who uses different plates for different chassis on the LS mounts?

12thstreet,

Dimensionally how much different do you think the Hooker version is to the edelbrock? Some mounts share a hole and the others are offset(obviously).

I've been looking a different mounts to move the engine back further....

I actually just cut a set similar to the edelbrocks today out of stainless, I'll post some pics later.

Well, a buddy is mocking up a turbo setup, using my car for the time being with the hooker plates. I can't really get the dimensions too well. I will say I don't see how you could mount it any closer to the firewall than what the hookers put it. I will try to get some measurements this evening.

Here's a pic of a Hooker plate for comparison... looks like the Hooker plates put the engine about 1/2" farther back than the Edelbrocks

Good pic, I'll take one just like that of the edelbrocks tonight. That does confirm they will be about 1/2" father forward. The motor setting in my car right now has the hookers, and like I said I don't see how you could get it any closer to the firewall. I have a small block heater core, and it is right against the head.

I can add that the Edelbrock plates will position the engine in such a way that it will sit with the bellhousing in the same location as an old school SBC or BBC. This was important to me because when I was doing my swap I kept the same trans my shifter had to come out in the same location as with my BBC.

Thats why I'm looking at dumping the plates I have and installing the "Edelbrock" style plates. The tranny's current position is much further forward than the original GEN I position. It's moving the shifter even further away from me and I dont care for that two much.
