Default 4l60e trans out of a truck

Will a auto trans out of a 2 wheel drive 1999 1500 pick up truck work in a 98 z28 are the trans the same. I searched it and found a few things saying 99 trucks had different trans can anyone verify this for me can it work or no? My friend blow his trans in his z28, someone has a 99 pick up that will sell the trans to him thats why I ask. thanks.

I'm pretty sure it will fit, but the shift shaft is about an inch or so longer, might be difficult to hook up the factory shift cable. The tailshafts can be swapped out for the f-body one so the torque arm can be bolted back on.

Yeah I knew the tail shaft would be different.

You should be able to bolt it in the trans with a few changes. The f-body tailhousing will need to be swapped on. Also the shifter shaft will need to be swapped and you can ditch the P/N switch on the truck trans

You need to make sure of what the truck is. In 99 a 1500 can be an old body style with an old style SBC (5.7L). That will be a different bell housing than the LS1, and would require more parts to make it work.

If the truck is a NBS Silverado (4.8, 5.3), then the trans is much more usable.

I need to buy that longer shift shaft, nuetral safety switch, screws, etc., for a truck 4L60E transmission, where can I get the part numbers for all these items? Thanks
