Default LS2/T56 in 1st Gen. Camaro VSS question

I am putting an LS2/T56 into a 1968 Camaro. I am using Autometer electronic guages. Do I need to change out the VSS sensor on the T56, or will it work just fine.
I am having the ECU programmed for 3.73 gears and the correct tire size, but wondered if I needed to do anything els for the tach and speedo to read correctly.

thanks.

im using autometer gauges in my truck. the tach hooked right up to the tach wire from the pcm. the speedo has a spot for the vss on the back of it. it should be a three wire hookup. you will have to program the speedo to make it work correctly. programming is in the instructions. hope this helps.

Just FYI you will need Autometer PN 2277 for your coolant temp sensor to fit in the heads and i forgot what number for the oil pressure sender. I'm not running a speedo yet so i can help ya there.

I've seen other pics of guys using another temp sensor and oil pressure sender, but why is this? Do the stock ones not work or are they part of the old guages to the GTO I got the motor out of?

thanks

Not sure with the LS2, but with my LS1, there's a 4000-ppm speedo output coming out of the PCM that I'm using to drive an Autometer speedo.

Your temp sensors need to match the gauges--there is no standard for sensors, they are all different.

Most of the issues are with the head being metric instead of NPT. The head is taped for a M12-1.5 and most of the gauges are 1/8"-27 NPT. For the tach I've heard setting it to 4 cyl will work or 8 cyl with a 1.5Kohm pull-up to +12V.

I will be using Autometer guages for the speedo, tach, water temp, oil pressure, battery volts, and fuel level.
Correct me if I am wrong, but this is what I understand so far. For the speedo, I just follow the directions of the unit. The tach should work since I am using an electronically controlled tranny with an electric tach. For the water temp and oil pressure, I need to get the correct Autometer sensors for the block. For the battery I just tie it into the wiring harness and for the fuel level I tie it into the reworked tank.

thanks.
