ls1 in a 96 tacoma

I'm planning on using this universal crossmember to mount the motor. Any opinions on this? I have noticed they say they are for straight front axles, but i have a crossmember under the radiator so i think there is enough frame rail support.

He wants to go carb becuase my engine is carb'd and he's felt the rediculous power it makes :-D My carb setup is very streetable, not bad on fuel (around 20mpg), makes great power, plus i already have a carb for him and plenty of tuning experience on them. And carb setup LS1s look 1,000 times better than the stock LS1 intake EFI setup. If i went EFI i would def run the Victor JR manifold they are just so much cleaner and more efficient.

I want to go carbed because in my mind is simpler/easier/and i like the look of a carb sticking out of the hood. This truck is about as far from a dd as you can get so i dont really care about mpg or ultimate streetability
Block in!

Head on, brake booster clearance.

Side shot.

Hood height/Intake clearance. I will have to put a cowl in the hood because the intake setup sits 12" over the lifter valley.

GTO front sump oil pan. Its not bolted to the block but you get the general idea.
