Cool! The guy I'm gettin my 5.3 from changed his mind and is gonna sell me the 4l60e with the motor if I pull it out. Now I'm workin on getting his wrecked truck to my house so I can pull the motor/trans/wiring.

What kind of mig are you gonna buy? I have a Lincoln electric sp-135t, good hobbiest machine. Looking to get a Miller Tig next!

Probably getting a Hobart Handler 140. I've been reading plenty of great reviews, and seems like a good welder for the money.

That's a good machine too. Just so you are aware, if you're planning on getting one from Harbor Freight, the ones they sell are remanufactured units, just fyi. Just used mine to make a bracket to mount my SS grille emblem in the Musstang!

Ended up getting a Handler 187. Just gotta hook up a 220v outlet in the garage, and I'll be on my way.

So I can use the 1998 GT k-member and just build some modified mounts to install my 5.3? That seems pretty simple.

Any ideas on mounting the air pump for the brakes/steering?

Let me know if you need help hooking up that 220V line. I happen to know a good electrician.

I hooked up the outlet myself lol. Its only a few feet from the box so it was easy. I still have to weld up the trans crossmember... I have been slacking lately. I have slipped back into tightwad mode, haha.

I hear ya! I've been laid off for 15 months now so I understand being a tightwad!

Subscribing!

How did the headers fit? Aside from rounding the ends were there any other modifications required?

What are you doing with the ABS module? Is there enough room to leave it mounted in the stock location on the core support or???

+1 on the headers. I got my car up and running w/ a cheap set of flea-bay headers but I'm wanting LT's and want something that fits the chassis well.

I ditched the ABS. No other modifications to the headers. I just cut the old flanges off, heated the tubes w/ a torch, and rounded them out w/ a sort of tail pipe expander thing at my buddy's shop haha. Then welded the ls1 flanges on. Headers fit ok, see below.

I wouldn't say they fit well, especially w/ the 4l80e, but they do fit. I had to do some grinding on the bellhousing, and the driver side is really close to the firewall. It's funny because the passenger side fits pretty awesome in comparison. Note: I am using a factory 4.6 kmember.

Could you give me a rundown of what is involved in dumping the abs? There are numerous mustang swap threads around here but most of are foxes & they differ in this area. I'd like to rid my 95 of abs but don't know exactly whats involved. Thanks!

A member of a Mustang Forum makes an ABS Delete Manifold. You could try contacting him.

The thread is old, but I believe he is still selling them.

That would really make things easy but does't look like it would do much for opening up space. Thanks for the link, hadn't seen that before.

You could also relocate it. Here is another thread with pics of both.

I had to redo all the brake lines anyway, so i just ran a line from my proportioning valve to my linelock, and put a tee on the "output" of the unit for the front brakes.
