Need help with tuning msd 6010/carb setup.

At 1000 rpm idle I have 10 to 11" of vacume showing on the MSD software. Should I drop the 6.5 to a 5.5pv? I'm diff going back to the pv setup with 75/85-90 jets.
I would like to try a bigger carb later ths summer to see if it picks up. And I kinda want to try E85 instead of this pricy *** cam2 at $6 a gallon.
I know what you mean about listening to the "old racers". But sometimes you gotta see if they are right haha.
I will report back next week after I switch back and throw in a new set of plugs.

E85 needs a separate carb than a normal holley style. They have different circuits in them. Cam2 at that price isn't that bad, but go buy a drum of it if you want to save some coin. I'd leave the 6.5 in there if you still have a slight lean spot upon acceleration. 1" of pv isn't going to change much. I'm sure a bigger carb would pick up but for now I'd tune the car then worry about that later on.

There is a guy (RaceonE85.com) who sell's a kit for a holley style carb for $125 that coverts it to E85. For another $100 you can have them build your carb with the kit put in it. Check'em out. Lot's of people have had great results with them.

if you are tuning the box yourself then ditch the pills all together. My curve is 22 degrees at 1000rpm up to 28 degrees at 3000rpm. My base timing at zero rpm is 12 degrees and just made a straight line up to 1000rpm(22degrees). This eases the load on the starter during cranking but adds timing once the engine fires up. 13:1 is ok for an idle, try a little leaner if you can. My rev limit I set to 7000 since I plan on shifting it at 6700-6800. My cam is much smaller than yours, you will leave a lot of hp on the table shifting it too soon like that. Also for that type of motor I'd be thinking a 850/950 quick fuel carb, the 650 will be holding you back as well.
