Thats a dumb idea.. why would you put a not as powerful engine in a car just to sup that engine back up to what the car already HAD to begin with. Doesn't make sense..

a new viper wouldnt make sense but an old one like a 94 is what i had in mind. 9 mpg 500hp, an ls7 would be better than that.

But the car is a turd and expensive for what it is. A C5 already has an ls1 and is cheaper than the viper. Ever so slightly better built IMO.

Did a article on top speed challenge and a White 1994 VIPER powered by a twin turbo chevy motor posted the second highest MPH. However, it lost its hood in the process.

i think this is one of the first LS swaps i've heard of where you actually lose power. initially anyways. and i believe that most vipers are balanced pretty close to 50-50. i wouldnt want to upset the weight ratio. if not the stock viper i'd be damn sure the ACR and GTS would be.

EPIC FAIL

It's like a An LS1 owner swaping in a V6, then modding it to make the same power as the removed LS1? Just stupid.

a lot of you people are so closed minded.

about 100 years ago you'd never think mfer's would be flying planes or flying them into buildings or flying period

you wouldn't think we would ever have a black president

You would see the thought of a "muscle car" or anything "different" as stupid.

this is why you people are called closed minded and the select few actually contribute to making the world a better(in some cases worse), place with new ideas

A lighter/ equally powerful/ or more powerful engine of any kind would be better! point blank. I don't give a **** if the engine weighed the same as a loaf of bread, if it put out 500hp, it would be faster than a 300lb engine with 600hp in the same car.

If someone is doing an engine swap, it isn't fair to call it stock in any way period. Most normal people wouldn't trade a stock ls1 for a v10 in a newer viper, so why is this even being discussed? Duh, dip *****(you deserve it, that and I'm sorry)lol YES, it will have equal or greater power. From this alone a lighter weigh 500hp or whatever hp ls1 will be faster and (my opinion) sound better than a stock v10.

If any body swaps an LS into a viper or any kind of car with greater power than original ls1 cars, then most likely it'll be forged, that's number 1... Next most likely it will have aftermarket H/C/I maybe spray and or F/I

now go back under your rocks and let the thinkers think.

The 97 and up Viper motor is actually quite light and very well made and can be compared to an LS1 in V10 form. This 96 and under motors are turds. They have wet liners that leak and are heavy and the heads are junk. Have you guys seen how these motors respond to mods...they are bad ***. Ever hear one with a big cam in it...just sick. They don't sound any different than a Lambo V10 or an Audi 5 cylinder for that matter. Everyone has there opinion though....

Ok, so why don't you swap motors with me for the V6 I have sitting in the yard. It's lighter. I will also take the burden of that LS1 off your hands as well.

Wow, glad I'm not building my car for someone else to like.

Guys no matter if the guy does it or not. It's the thought process of going "hey how can I make it work" that makes it fun. Sure to some peeps it sounds like a stupid idea however the thought process to make it work is what's cool..

Tails
