[QUOTE=ls1nova71;14267315]I'm building the crappy blue 1971 right now, and it won't be as nice so it should stay around for a while.

LS1Nova, we have all heard that before...it will wear on you until you go full out like the one before....

Also on truck 4l60 and 4l80's with the trans range sensor on them, the shift shaft is about an inch or so longer than a 350 turbo, so you have to shorten the piece that goes between the shift lever on the trans and the piece that bolts to the frame. That's the gist of it.

Leevon, i thought i was getting top dollar for it. How many 67-72's have you seen sell for more then 25k? But anyway i'm keeping the next one!
Once again, something I was worried about, is a non-issue.

Is the swap just that easy? Is there any major roadblock that caught you off guard?

wow, this came up through a google search, and after reading for the last couple hours,to see that you sold it, and then it went to auction, my heart sank. Nonetheless, awesome looking truck, great work.

Sorry you sold it! I have a 69 Camaro and always wanted to do an older truck or Camino. I saw one a while back where a guy took a long bed and put a short bed on it and made it an extended cab. Now that is what I want for a hauler. Nice job on the A/C also much better than a VA system with a fresh air setup.....

Er uh, Do you have the number to Mecam? Just kidding. But Seriously that was a fluke. He could have just as easily lost money. Role of the dice. You made money and did a great job on the build. Thanks for posting the info, very informative and entertaining.

I'm blaming this on you, you jinxed me!!!!

But, things changed, the dark blue short bed became more of a 'parts truck' than a "parts hauler". So much so that it's hard to tell where one truck leaves off and another takes over. That said, I've almost finished my newest build, and apparently I cannot keep my word. This one is way too nice also! But it got this way because I bought another truck for a parts hauler (anybody see a pattern here?), so this one became show truck number 2, or is it 3, not sure. But in my defense, that dark blue short bed was a rolling pile of ****, and did need everything replaced anyway. My current beater truck is green and white, I have a fondness for that two-tone, and is totally driveable. I've been driving it for almost a year now. It's got a 350/350 with PS, PB, and A/C, although the air doesn't work at the moment, I have a plan to fix that. In late September I'm going to be pulling the 350 that gets 12 mpg no matter how easy you drive it, and will be swapping in an '04 5.3/4l60e combo, fixing the A/C and adding cruise control, and that's it! I might paint the engine, but nothing else! This is the truck I wanted all along, something I can haul crap to the dump in and not have to worry about, so I'm not about to screw that up. I'm even leaving the white walls and full wheel covers, just because you don't ever see these trucks that haven't been messed, and I live the untouched look it has.

So first, the pics of the beater, which will be getting a 5.3.

And the latest project, 99% done, just have to finish a few things.
'71 short bed, 2006 5.3/4l60e. Pretty much an orange version of my old blue truck.

My buddy Anthony (aknovaman) hooks me up with the tuning. It's definitley a benefit being able to have a swap live tuned versus a mail order tune.

Hey Anthony, going to have to get with you to fix a few things on this one. Since I decided to put a mechanicle fan on it, the check engine light is on because there are no fan relays!
