Default coolant sensor location

Is there anywhere else that you can mount the coolant sensor other than the back of the passenger side head?

If you aren't going to put it in the heads, then I'd put it in the top hose going to the radiator. That will give you the water temp before the radiator cools it and is easy to do with a tube/bung....

I put mine in the block heater plug.

ok thanks guys, what do you guys think of drilling and tapping the head to accomodate a 3/8 fitting that the temp sensor goes in? I have the means to do this but i already have the engine in and full of water, I could drain some coolant and then drill and tap it, what do you guys think of that?

I'd say if you are going to do that, leave the coolant in and do it. That way the coolant leaving the engine will carry your particles with it.

or, dump the coolant and fill up with water and use the water to carry it away. Then flush it out with water, dump the water and fill with coolant after you plug the hole.
