My trip to the strip was before it was retuned. I got about 6 runs after a 1.5 hour drive so it was nice and heat soaked. The initial LS investment is similar to a ground up SBC build, but if I blow my motor, I can throw in a short block that is both dirt cheap and available everywhere now. I get around 20 MPG and I always have my foot in it.

Yes, heat shrink hose clamps from McMaster Carr. Edelbrock 1 7/8 steps swap headers to Pypes 2.5" x-pipe and dynomax ultra flo welded muffs.

I agree totally. If I was starting from scratch 100% its the way to go. If i hurt this set up hopefully I can get some decent cash for it and go the lsx route. You did a really clean build/swap....congrats!!!

PS..what kind of power did it make before the retune?? Im trying to get an idea what kind of rwhp mine is making. It went 11.89 at 115. Weight is about 3600 with me in it.

Thanks Ron

Thanks for the props. The dyno chart is the first tune, I dont have a dyno sheet for the re-tune on the Mustang dyno. I would guess my car is in the 3700 to 3900 lb range. Add my 250lbs and im pretty close to 2 tons.

Default LY6 in chevelle

Old thread I know but I am looking to put one of these in my 69. What kind of clearance issues did you have with PS and oil pan?

Very little clearance for both. I used a Champ pans oil pan and van ps pump with remote reservoir. F-Body will be different but I also had to use an S-10 PS pump pully to clear the box.

Click the x-body link in my thread. There are plenty of 3rd gen Novas ('68-'74) with 6.0s they are pretty much the same dimensionally whether they are LQ4s, LQ9s, or LY6s. Those Novas have the same frame as your 1st gen Camaro, so the tech will usually cross over.

It still pulls great. Mid and high end is fantastic for such a mild build.

I had it re-tuned by Mike at Straightline and it put down 420/405 on a Mustang Dyno.
Wow! My numbers seem really low then. Mine dynoed 359.9 to the wheels on a mustang dyno with a .224 and .228 comp cam .581 .571. Eddy headers ls3 intake and injectors. I do run an auto (4l80e) and 3200 stall.

I'm going to PM you. Awesome ride and build.

You're in my neck of the woods, and I live right by Speed Inc.
I'm looking at L76 or LY6 options right now for my 1970 442 clone.

I'd like to see your engine build if you don't mind and ask you what
mounts and all that jazz you used to save myself some time.

now with mild port L92's, custom 242/246 cam, same short block I am making 500+ at the tire...

Just throwing some Idea's out there for future plans!! nice clean build by the way!!
So your making 500+ to the tires on a LY6 basically w/ mild port L92's and a cam (ms4), and stock intake, what compression ratio is that combo at now that you have L92's, also what is the chamber volume on the L92's?
