I broke a piston in the 6.0l about two months ago. so i picked up a 5.3 and put a cam and springs into it and 317 heads and im in the process of putting it back together.

How much boost were you running? Was it from launching hard or how did it break/what from?

it was on 12 psi 13 degrees of timing. were were making a street pass on the car crack the limiter multiple times because of tire spin and it developed a miss due to a broken plug. we drove it home on 7 cylinders and pulled it apart to discover a broke piston in number 1cyl. the piston was broke in the ring land and down the skirt. i believe it was a fuel cut limiter problem and just beating the snot out of it..

Yeah I had first wanted a 68-72 but I found this cheap and the car has grown on my I don't mind the big bumpers. I do have a fiberglass 70 front bumper here I have had thoughts of doing a conversion but my stuff is in good condition so I can't see changing it.

dude such awesome attention to detail. sorry to hear about the 6.0. hows the 5.3/317s feel in comparison??

also, is there a reason the wastegate is sourced off the passenger header instead of off the post-merged charge pipe?

any more info on the bag setup? separate thread maybe?

Awesome thread the Nova looks flawless. My dad had a 73' and sold it for another basket case, a 69' Camaro. Hope to get another 73' soon love the front end on them it's just different from every other Nova you see at shows.

i really like the 5.3 setup the car has not been back on the dyno yet but i bet it makes more power!

it looks like the gate is sourced off the one header but it is acculy sourced off both sides in the merge pipe.
here is a good pic of the setup:

the bag setup is total custom. i do not have a thread up for that. the car was air bagged about 6 years ago it basically is a simple setup with two compressors 6 valves and 1/2 line
