The Corvette accessories are closest to the block. The F-body is .75" further out and the trucks are .75" further from the block than the F-body.

Because the water pump is spaced 1.5" and the alt and ps is only spaced .75" then you need a tensioner that is .75" closer to the block than the F-body one since it mounts to the water pump. Therefore since the Vette stuff is .75" closer than the F-body the Vette tensioner is what you need.

The F-body, Vette, GTO, and CTS-V all share basically the same waterpump. The belt simply rides in different locations on the pulley depending on how far the accessories are from the block. I chose the newer style water pump from a GTO due to it having a seperate thermostat like the old style sbc motors had. The earlier water pumps had the neck integrated with the thermostat.

Yahaaa! Thanks.

Before i found this thread I was thinking of running the f-body accessories and only spacing out the f-body water pump. I have done no mock ups yet but it looks to me like there is enough room on the f-body water pump hub to allow the bolt to run closer to the lip and maybe everything else will work. Only issue I can see thus far is the VVT wiring is pretty close to the truck balancer so I was thinking an underdrive pulley might clear but this was all speculative.

Regardless now that I see what you have done and how well it fits I dont think im going to try an reinvent the wheel here so thanks again.

If you are still running a high volume oil pump it could be an issue running such a low volume pan. Be careful going uphill as the GTO pump suction is right at the front.

i am "attempting" to do a similiar build. my issue is, my 96 camaro is a v6 car. so i'm having to change almost everything. i came across a good deal on an l92 engine, ls3 intake, and 2010 camaro cam. all i have so far is the computer, complete harness (including injector harness), upgraded 4l60e trans which is said to be good for 650 hp, 2500-2800 stall, 07 escalade starter, walbro 255 lph fuel pump and kit. from what i've been reading on this site, i should be looking for mostly parts from ls1 camaro. I'm guessing the speedo tach cluster from ls1 would be the correct option. my main intention for the moment is to get this thing running. I'll deal with the exhaust, rear end, upgraded brake system and suspension...etc, as i get to them. i know i need to get all the drive accessories, but from this list of stuff that i already have, what else am i missing? (besides starting with an LS car to begin with. LOL) Also I'm learning as i go, so don't assume that i should already know. I've picked up quite a bit of info from this website and others, but i still feel like i'm at the tip of the iceberg. any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanx

Do you have a part number for the vette tensioner?

Only thing I can add to this thread is the alternator. I have been through several. Basically what you need is small alt that wont hit the subframe but high amp. I ended up having one custom made. 200 amp but small so it will run my subwoofers, dual fans, ac system, no lag in 02 sensors, etc. They took a small alt and changed the guts. Great stuff.

Its being made today so dbelectrical@yahoo.com if you are interested. Great guys. Ask for Robbie.
Will add to post when I have the part number or PM me.

Photos here pre change, page 3. L92 160 amp alt hit frame.

Part number 8247-200 at DB electrical.

I have it on my LY6 and it works great. Clears the vvt and lines up perfectly with the truck crank pulley, plus you get a drivers side outlet. See my swap thread in my signature for pics.

Here are some pictures comparing the LY6/L92 truck waterpump to the L99 Camaro waterpump. The belt contact area of the L99 waterpump pulley aligns perfectly with the truck pulley, despite the overall size of the pulley being shorter. On the backside, there is plenty of clearance for the VVT timing cover, which I assume is the same between the LY6, L92 and L99.

On the engine. This is an LY6 VVT truck engine with an LS3 intake on top. The crank pulley is the same as the L92.

The driver's side, forward outlet should make hose routing cleaner for my Nova's driver's side inlet radiator.

On the passenger side, you can see the bosses for mounting the L99 tensioner are thicker and stick out further, so the LY6/L92 tensioner will not line up. You will need an L99 specific tensioner

This picture shows the LY6/L92 tensioner on the L99 waterpump - obviously this will not work.

DAMN IT!!! For whatever reason my 99 f-body water pump does not clear with the Mast spacers. Speaking of which they arrived with 1/4" holes so i had to drill them out. Not a huge deal but still wheres the QC there? Anyways my 07 truck wp has a pressed in back section ( whatever the pressed in disk is called on the backside of the water pump behind the impeller ) but my f-body water pump has a bolted on back section and this part hits right on the phaser hump. I tried grinding the heads off the bolts but its not enough so Im pissed now. Im either going to need another Camaro wp or perhaps step up to the 2010 Camaro pump and ditch the spacers altogether.

I was so close to jamming the engine back in too. Bummer

Well I got seriously frustrated there so I took the grinder to the back of my water pump. I had to take off quite a bit of material from the rear cover and especially the bottom bolt. Its now buttoned up but I hope it doesnt leak... Fingers crossed

My MAST spacers did the same thing. I doubled up the gaskets. This still touched alittle. I will have to check for leaks when I finally get it started. I was a little disappointed I had ANY fitment issues considering the (IIRC) $199 for SPACERS !!!

I am still keeping Clints (-TheBandit-), idea of a L99 WP on the back burner.

Does anyone have the part number for the L99 water pump tensioner pulley? Thermostat housing part number would also be very helpful.

HAHA, what a weird coincidence, there are two shops here in town, one a "custom shop" and one a performance/mechanic shop and they shop work out between them. They are sometimes referred to as stycktastic. Thought you were referencing them LOL.

hahaha, i was like 'i wonder who that is'

would an f body tensioner work on the l99 water pump? or would it be as offset as the LY6/L92?

I know clint posted that in nov, but i was curious

I really don't know as I haven't had a L99 waterpump in the shop yet. The F-Body will be .75" closer than the L92 tensioner. But I don't know if thats what you will need for it to line up.

i'm not sure what the chances are of me getting the wrong size belt, but i asked for a 2000 camaro ss belt at the local autozone. when i installed it, it seemed a little loose. what gives? will the corvette tensioner help take up the slack? i still have the the truck water pump and tensioner installed for now, but sure if either is causing the belt to to be slack.
