I just recieved my autometer mechanical water temp guage and see that the adaptor i bought will not work ( 1/8" npt x m11)-the right adaptor is 5/8"xm16x1.5, I dont know where there is a spot to install it-06 ls2. thanks JOHN

How about the water pump ? does it have the flat spot on top to use ?

I always just remove the passenger-rear allen plug on the head, and slightly drill it out and Tap it for the proper NPT size for the autometer fitting. No adaptor required, and that plug isn't used by anything factory so no problems

 

What's the voltage scaling on a stock sensor vs aftermarket? Could you try putting a stock sensor in the head and wiring in the pigtail?

 

dont even drill it, just run a 1/4" NPT tap into the head where the sender or plug is.

 

I just use the corresponding drill size for the 1/4 NPT, so it dose'nt fight me while tapping. The 1/4 tap was a little tight to get started when i didn't run the drill first, maybee its just my tap
