tach will not work

tach will not work The tach in my 92 will not work with the 02 motor I installed not even moving the needle, The white wire was connected to the wiring harnes I got from painless. Does anyone have any suggestions for this and i have read that some have made it work but the tach ends up reading the wrong rpm
