Default cleaned up the engine bay

Well, my a/c has never worked, and the engine bay was so cluttered i couldt even change spark plugs. Plus i live in western washington where we get mainly rain and clouds. Id say it dropped probably around 40 pounds off the front end of the car. Im not sure if it made any HP gains, it was on one belt as opposed to the 4th gens whos a/c is on a seperate belt, I guess the previous owner installed a custom a/c kit that uses the stock thirdgen a/c components. One thing i did notice is i used to have a thumping noise when the car would run, now its gone, must of been something to do with the a/c.

So here is what i did.....

First i went to the junk yard and found a NON-A/c car, took the heater box from the firewall out of it. It made ALOT more room under the hood.

then i removed all the lines and canister.

then yesterday i removed the condensor(?) which was easier than i thought it would be. Im very happy with the results and am going to change spark plugs today lol.

I also removed the AIR system when i did my header install.

Before

After

Im thinking of getting some corvette fuel rail covers now to clean it up even more.

Stock motor?

I ran TR55s in my stock setup, good, cheap plug. I usually changed them every 15-20k miles. For less than 20 bucks, it's nice to know they're fresh. Any NGK TRx (as in TR6, TR55, etc) in stock or near stock heat range and gap should be good.

Now I run TR7s and change them every oil change (1500 miles), but I'm not stock anymore.

Yeah, that's definitely looking better! I can't believe that you did the swap with the A/C still in there - man, that's nuts! Isn't it wild how much room it frees up? (Also - good find on the A/C delete heater box, those things are prized, & can be hard to find!) I removed the A/C on my car just so I wouldn't have to work around all of that crap - and then shortly thereafter I had to take a job in Houston...

I changed the plugs today, NGK iradium. the gap on them was only .40, on the ones i removed the gap was .60. The car runs GREAT, i also cleaned the under hood.

I cant believe how easy it was, sure nice with all that room

I have a similar bracket for the ac on my swap. AC is nice and cold, plus living in FL makes it a requirement.

I have no problems changing my plugs either

Looks good though!

Looks nice.

I wish my car had one that was that easy..you practically have to rebuild the Heater Box to get it to function right.

it was more the box in the firewall that made it hard to change the plugs.
