header question
#22
In a friends swap we used bbc headers that were 1 7/8 then bought these u bends in 1 3/4 cut them in half at the middle of the u, cut the header tubes below the bends that go to the head flange. Then slid the 1 3/4 tube inside the 1 7/8 tube and rotate the u bend until they match the ls1 head flange. It worked well and he had a set of stepped headers on a budget. Here is an example of the u bends we were using. Hope this helps.

I've been told that 77-96 b-bodies are the same, but i'm willing to bet those same headers would fit your car, in a week i'll be attempting to see if they work myself because i'll be taking the bbc (with headers) outta my 79 and putting it in my cousins 72. In the mean time KCHenry is a member here .....wassup KCHenry reach out if you can

It was in a rock buggy, but if they make BBC headers for your car I know it will work. Cut the tubes off of the header bolt the Ls1 flange to the head, prop up the header where you want it with blocks of wood, bungee cords or what ever and just connect the dots from there.

Nice! Thats what I was going to do. I mean its only about 1/2" each tube isn't aligned, so it couldn't be THAT difficult to modify them. These "donks" as they're called (71-76 impala/caprice) came with the option of a big block 454, so they should work ok!
