Default LS6 Porsche 964 build

Started this build in October 2006 and never got around to posting many build pics.

I started out with a 1990 Porsche C2 with the "big" 3.6 liter 6 and G50/03 5 speed gearbox. Dry sump (14 qts). Drove fantastic. No complaints except for skinny tires required under narrow body...and 219 rwhp.

I drove the car for 4 months daily and couldn't get over the lack of power. Looked at a bunch of motor options (Subaru ej207, ej25, and the 3.0, also mazda's 13b, and 20b. Toyota's 2jz gte motor is to long.) and none were even close to touching the LS series motors in reliability, weight, and aftermarket support.

I joined Ls1tech in Aug. 06 and was hooked immediately. Bought this 346 from a user on these boards in September 06 and had the motor mounts/engine cage measured and fab'd. Ron davis supplied the 3.5'' x 28'' x 22'' front mounted radiator. 2 10'' (can't remember which i went with) fans

Light surface rust came off cylinder liners with scotch brite pad with little pressure. 35k miles on this motor.

The Ls motors are dimensionally smaller and 100 lbs lighter than the 3.6 i pulled, not including the 14 qt dry sump, plumbing, and front mounted cooler that was also sold. The car feels much more nimble with the LS. The flat six was 535 lbs without exhaust...
Not my pics. This is a 2.7 six next to a stroker.

Radiator exhausted under car

I pulled the stock power seats out and my bathroom scale told me they weigh 70 lbs! Each!

Sparco's are 12 lbs each. More weight reduction = $$$. I'm toying with the idea of pulling the sunroof motor and tracks out = 40 lbs in the worst spot.

Twin 52 lbs/min turbo's go on once it starts snowing. Hoping for >10.50's and 205+ in the texas mile on pump gas + meth.

The car was recently weighed in at 1100 lbs front 1740 lbs rear with my travel tool box (30 lbs) and FULL gas tank. I think with a little more weight reduction it'll be under 2850 with F/I.

Lot's more to come

Thanks.

My fav too. There's something sinister about a European car with a lopey idle.

Just sold my victor jr/4150 tb setup for a fast 90. Fast goes on today. Here's the new oil cooler setup with XRP lightweight lines.

It moves Not many street cars have the majority of the weight in the back so it HOOKS even with radials. It's not as quick as a lot of cars in here, but it holds it's own at 2800 lbs. It surprises lot's of unsuspecting sport bikes in the canyon.

Sweet! The 964 is my favorite model 911 and stuffing a LS1 in there just makes it better. Do you have any shots of the radiator setup? I was actually thinking of this exact swap earlier today and was wondering if there was a good way to mount the radiator in the front instead of horizontal in the tail.

I hope to do one of these one day.

Amazing.

The beauty of a 964, and the brute strength of an LS6.
I also think the LS6 sounds better than an aircooled H6.
