Ls1 in a ford truck! Hello all,
I just joined the site today and wanted to let everyone know my project.
My 1994 ford F150 extended cab 4x4 is recieving an ls1 heart transplant. right now i am in the beggining stages planning and buying everything that is needed to put the engine and tranny into my truck. the truck has a 302 that doesnt get good gas mileage and is a pig. This truck has a lot of sentimental Value to my wife and i because my father in law brought my wife to our wedding in it and because it was his before i bought it. couple question i have is whats the best aftermarket harness to get to fix my truck and what is the mpg i can expect out of a 6.0 liter lq4 engine.

You can check with John @ Speartech, Jesse @ Wait4mePerformance, CurrentPerformance and a few of the other sponsor / Vendor on this site.. they can all fix you up with a standalone harness.
I think with the right combination and a good tune you might be able to get close to 25mpg.. your weight, gears and tire would have lot to say about what you can expect.

Okay i hit a speedbump. does anyone know a site that would provide me with the engine mounts. I cant find a site that has ls1 engine mounts to put on my ford frame. i thought advance adaptors would have one but i couldn't find it. thanks for the info on the wiring harness. the truck is going to be my daily driver. its a 4x4 with 31.10.5R15 Tires and a 3.55 limited slip rear end.
Hmmm.. not a common swap.. I think for the most part, your on your own to build what you need. Try Speedway Motors.. they have a lot of DIY stuff for Rods and older trucks. I wouldn't know even know what oil pan would work due to the cross member or where the frame stands would end up. Just Fab up your own...

You can use 5.0 Mustang headers, just weld on LS1 flanges. Ford truck motor mounts are pretty simple, and I know I've seen a 95 F150 with a 4.6 in it, so an LS1 shouldn't be a problem...they bolt in pretty much the same way.

what do you guys think a conversion would cost. i can get a complete swap with a 6.0 and a 4l80e and all the stuff needed to swap right down to the gas pedal for $3250 and it has 75,000 miles on it. what do you guys think is that two much to pay for a 2003 swap.
