another rx7 from lt1 to ls1
So here is the storyMy RX5.7

So here we have the Block

it was nasty! needed to be cleaned and honed and the block needed to be decked

Here are the NASTY pistons and rods

The intake before it was washed and all those good things

O what fun that was. So after about 500 in parts and labor I started working on the motor
So here we have the block nice and cleaned out. Bored 30 over because two cylinders had some bad marks on it

and here is the other side

Here are the new pistons and rods

So now that i have all this cleaned up and new stuff i started to put it all together

so the crank was polished and checked no major damage done to it and all together and all clearance checked i was happy

New pushrods and all the goodies

and here it is all together

now not pictured is my fully built T56 from Six Speed Inc. It was built with CF syncs gears to match my 4.10 rear end gears bronze pads, and all the great stuff in it!

Well i don't have many pictures of putting the motor in but i have a few pictures!
Lets start with the mouting bracket for the motor!

As you can see i beefed up the sway bar and tried my best to clean it up.

Whats not pictured was the rattle can spray job i did to the whole engine bay
Shifter in place looks like its Stock

So after a few hours and a lot of getting pissed off i i got the motor in!

Sorry for the blurry pics

new valve covers

Here is the video of the day I finally got it together and running!
YouTube - V8 FC
well the shifter was really tall so i got a short shifter and a hurst shift ****

So after all the work i finally got the chance to play it took me almost a full year to get everything together including losing the tranny and having to getting everything rebuilt cost me $1500 after the core so here is some
Here are the pics from the FC getting its new t56 it was so scary driving it home I had it at my Dads house and he helped me put it in!
I thought it was going to be a mess but we worked out pretty good and got it done fast!

But when I got her home i got her some new shoes too, yes the shoes are right off a 2002 Mustang GT

So here is a video that my wife made famous, but I installed new shocks, springs and the new wheels and tires
YouTube - RX7 wih new wheels and setup
When i got it home I had a custom box made for my trunk and then I found some tail lights to make it look a little better

So I finally got the chance to play around with her on the track. So here is my first time Auto Crossing
YouTube - My first time Auto X
YouTube - First time at AUTO cross part 2
And then once I really got the hang of it this was my best time yet!
YouTube - my best first auto cross runs
So I can tell you I was a little scared and this was my first time racing! please the girls recording didn't know we can hear them

So I got use to it and I made a second run

look at that roll

What a blur..lol
the lq4 the day i got it

so it left my house and i got my ls1 and i was super happy about it!
inside the vally

inside the valve cover

with the ls1 intake back on it!

ported ls1 TB (thanks jamie)

fuel rails and lq4 turck coils on it

maf and water pump bolted on

ls1 flywheel bolted on with arp flywheel bolts and apr pressure plate bolts

the things not on yet!
f body crank pulley, because i don't have a puller for it yet

f body altenator, because i don't have the mounting bolts yet

and the wiring harness and pcm in the box not ready to start modding it yet..lol

headers are unbolted

oil pan, tray, pick up, and dip stick all came in the mail

as to much suprise i had another knock on the door today and it was my race proven racing baffle with trap does on it!

so i said let me clean the oil pan up and get the new baffle in it
before

after

sitting in the working out room

radiator sitting in the background

half way out

out just need help steering it out

out and trans is off

the motor is ready for the new owner

playing with the slave cylinder to make sure that i can use my setup

i took the stock quick release from gm so i can use my SS line from the lt1

happy to see that it fits well and i am going to buy a new fitting so is 180 not 90 degrees

thats all i can do for now until i get some parts solds so i can buy more parts to finish off the swap!

i had to sneak away from the wife and take the 25 mins to get it together!

Hi i am Shaun and i approve this swap!

now get in the car mister!
ran my fuel lines today! and put in my vette fuel filter and ran the lines the way it needs to be. I ran it the same way Granny shows on the website

ran the line from the master cylinder to the slave cylinder

and installed the oil pressure sensor

things not pictured the water temp sensor is in
I think all that is left for me to do is the headers, get the lines from the heater core to the water pump. mine are to short so i am going to route that this week!
ran the hose for the PCV,
if you guys can think of anything i need to do please let me know. if not i think i am almost done. all i need is headers done, a small pipe from the headers to the exhaust, O2 sensors, starter bolts and bolt the starter to the block. wiring and ready to go!

then busting a groove on the welder!

but getting welds like this!

Chris finally getting off his *** and doing some work!

he did a great job on my gauge cluster!

ANGERED!!

but they turned out good!

passenger side ! DUMB easy to do!

driver side OMG what a pain!

greg had to put all 125 pounds on it to get it in place! LOL

still not there yet!

you can't see the hammer but i am beating the hell out of the firewall for about 1 inch of room for the header to get in there!

finally got it to line up right!

now i have to figure out what i am going to do with the pcm

finishing touches before we start it up

and finally this!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FaxMMeBqUF4

finally off jack stands and moving under is own power!!
well i worked on it some today. i spent yesterday and today trying to find some intake piping so i can make a nice cold air intake but i couldn't find anything that was 3.5, since my MAF is 3.5 i figured i would be able to find something man was i wrong. A & A had only ricer intakes that where2.5 or 3 inches but no step downs so i could at least put the 3inch intake on. So i ended up going to home depot and went to the PCV section and i fould a 3 to 3 but when i messured the inside of it, it came back 3.5 on one side and 3 on the other side. so i took it home and used all my old LT1 stuff and came up with this

what do you guys think?
i am proud of myself! i actually sat there with a wiring diagram and found the illumination wire so when i flip the headlights on the gauge turns on

now all that is left is to put the rest of my interior back together mount the pcm, wheel alignment and exhaust. I should have my interior back together this week I hope

thats all for now i still have to get my headers to the rest of the exhaust and figure out how i am going to mount the pcm, clean up the rest of my interior and i am ready for some auto cross and some time at the strip!!
