Very very cool project.
Did the LUV truck evolve into the S10? I am not familiar with the model.
I didn't realize how small this thing was until I saw that little girl (daughter?) standing next to it! Holy cow it's like a go-kart with 350hp!

Thanks. They made the LUV's from 1972-1982(1981-82 was a different body style) in 82 they phased out the LUV and basically replaced it with the S10. Some S10's came with the isuzu motors in them. Using whatever parts left over lol. In Mexico i think they still make the LUV. Totally different haha.
And that is my niece. Its a little smaller then an s10.

I think you've inspired my next build (imitation is the sincerest form of flattery )
I'm not really a low rider or mini truck guy but I've been looking for a platform to build an 8 second street car using a stock 5.3 or 6.0. I was going to use a first generation Rx7 or mustang for the weight, but they aren't really my style.
Was the 4 link out back just for ride height adjustment? Anyone drag race these trucks? I'd be willing to bet it's hard to get them to hookup. Hell any 2500lb car with no weight over the rear end is probably hard to get hookup.
Any advice in this regards, also does it look like a turbo setup and 4l80e or th400 would be too hard to squeeze in there? How bout brake upgrades, anything bolt on from other vehicles?

Got the truck out yesterday evening. Figured since it would be all wet and nasty out the next few days i better get a few miles on the truck before i get to antsy

I decided to go with the 3 link because I bagged it and didnt want much pinion angle change like i would have gotten with ladder bars. I would say LUV's are fairly common as a drag truck. Not a ton of them left, usually either lifted beat to ****, drag setup, or semi stock. Theres a guy on luvtruck.com that has one on leafs(i think a split leaf mono) and it pulls the front wheels. Have yet to go to the track. Plan on it after the cam swap. No traction around town at lower speeds of course. You can squeeze a 80e and turbo on the truck for sure. With the way my truck it setup i wouldnt want to do an 80. I would have to redo my whole tunnel. If youre gonna use the stock frame then Youd have more room to work with. Definately doable as long as your not scared to do some cutting/"massaging". Ive laid out a turbo setup on my truck in my head. It could be done but would be ridiculously tight and would require some cutting. But like i said usualy a stock frame, and dont mind routing piping certain ways, i could for sure work.
Do they make a short bed as well? I noticed your original 2wd looked like it had a shorter bed.
I am going to stay subscribed for updates.
Thanks for the info

I just finished reading the whole build. This is sweet!
I had a '75 Luv that I dropped in a Turbo Buick V6. It was badass. Only 1900# with me in it! It would not hookup when the turbo kicked in.
I sold it when I got my '63 Nova SS project. Damn I miss that truck!
I do not know if I missed it somewhere . What model are the mufflers? I think those are the ticket for my Nova
Keep up the great work!
