auto shift linkage with 84 suburban

Default auto shift linkage with 84 suburban

I put a 6.0/4l80 in my 84 suburban. what is the easy way to hook up the factory column shift (used to have a 700r,) to the current cable mechanism that the 4l80 uses? I absolutely do not want a floor shifter. I want the factory looking column shift. Is there some form of kit for this situation? any help would be appreciated

I'm using something like this

Lokar ACA-1804. Looks like they have a few different ones depending on the diameter of the steering column

Is there a reason you don't want to use the stock '84 linkage? I used my factory '72 linkage with very minor modifying.

Yep I just modified the factory shift linkage for my swap.

for my swap in my 68, the header completly blocks any possibility of using the factory linkage.

An option is possibly using the shift linkage from a newer 'burb / tahoe / truck with your older column. I just worked on a 96 Tahoe that has the 4L60E / 700R4 cable driven linkage you need with a column shift. Those things are in the 'yard all day, good hunting.

what did you do to the horizontal rod end to mate it up with the cable operated shifter on the tranny?

and for you 73-87 guys out there, I am running pacesetter longtubes off of an ls1 f body. I had to message them in a couple places with a hammer, but they fit surprisingly good.

I took all of the cable stuff off, and put the old stuff on. The shift arm just unbolts off of both transmissions, they're interchangeable.
