FYI the wiring stuff is actually towards the back of this story.

The regulator is a three-port piece that has a feed (from the fuel tank), a return (back to the tank) and a supply (to the rail) outlet on it. There are many ways of connecting the dots. Several people use hard lines, but anecdotally it seems just as many use flex line, braided hose and also the dorman OEM replacement plastic line kit (which is what I plan to use if I ever do another swap).

(1) Larger displacement
(2) Better flowing heads
(3) less expensive ( head flow, 4.065" bore, etc )
Now if you put a cam into that LS3 . . .

Hi, I am new to this forum. I am about to swap my LS1 to an LS3 and wanted to know if the reluctor wheel had to be changed on the LS3 in order to complete the swap since the wheel on the LS1 is a 24x wheel and on the LS3 it's a 58x wheel. Any advice would be very appreciated. Thank You.

No problem with the questions, love to help, if I can.
For emissions, I reused the evap canister from the LS1 and laid it on top of the driver's side fuel rail. I don't really like the position and may move it eventually. The rest of the emissions (cats, etc..) were also reused.
Fairly certain I used Lingenfelter's MAP sensor harness LS1 to LS3 (CE-109103) adaptor. Hopefully, tuning the LS3 MAP won't be too crazy.
Forgot to mention, that on the fuel system, I upgraded the in-tank fuel pump to a Racetronix unit to handle the higher flow requirements.
Also, for the throttle body, I had to purchase (GM #12556454) TB to valve cover tube, but you can also reuse the stock one.
the oil pan, the LS1 dipstick and tube are also required...
Reused the existing PCM, just haven't tuned it yet.
The skinny coolant hose connects in the same general area as it did on my previous LS6 intake & valley cover setup. I didn't have to do anything special for it to fit >>> see picture of old setup>>>

It's been awhile since I did this, but let me try to remember. For the coolant temp, I know I had to buy a replacement because I accidentally broke the original. The new one is a "Coolant Temp Sensor #12608814" and can still be purchased. I think that's the same as on the ls1. You can google it to find out.
I also reused the oil pressure sensor that's behind the intake manifold. Had to use a special socket to remove and reinstall it.

I realize this, for the most part, is an old thread... but it seems to be a good place for my questions. I'm doing the same swap on my '99 Camaro SS.
Is it ok to use the oil pickup tube from my LS1 on the LS3? I have an oil baffle I'd like to continue to use however the LS3 pickup tube won't fit it because of the shape of the end of the tube.

I've got the swap done aside from a proper tune.
What did you use for an air intake/CAI? I managed to jam on my SS OEM airbox tube for now, but its a narrower diameter in the middle of the tubing than the throttle body.
