junkyard engine problem
My ls1 has been passed around a little bit but originally came from a junkyard. I do not have a warranty.
The problem is the exhaust ports on the engine were never covered. The intake was removed and the intake ports were taped shut when i got it. Would it be stupid to install and fire the engine with out removing the heads? What would be the penalty for having some debris in the combustion chamber? I would appreciate everyone's opinion on this. Thanks

if it were me, i would blow out the ports where valves were closed with compressed air, and if the valve was open there isnt anything to do (except take head off, blah)... i wouldnt worry.

stick a shop vac(uum) over the exhaust port once the valve opens up.
