LOL this project would be worth it just to see the look on those hippies faces! forget using a junkyard motor, thats called recycling. Use a new motor and put a flamethrower exhaust kit on it that shoots like 5ft flames out the back lol. Oh and then name it something clever like the black sheep.

In a sense it is a recycler. Burns fossil fuels made from old animal carcasses (short version), turns it into gasses that go into the air and kills off some more animals, they fall to the earth and eventually turn into a fossil fuel again. Circle complete!

I agree that this is a great idea!
I would side with the junkyard 6.0 or something. If this was done on a budget it would be even better!
Normally I would say that putting a carb on an LS engine is backward, but it would be cool to have a carb on a prius!
DO IT!

Well, im not sure... but if thats true, thats awesome, I mean, its gonna be a tube chassis, in a shell no matter the car. Itll end up being really light, which is obviously a plus.

sorry if i'm reviving a thread that died a painless death, so idgaf if i get flamed for it, but, if you look up the Toyota V8 in my username, you might find a more feasible engine swap. however, I doubt if even that would work, so just a Supra 2JZ-GTE would work better. convert the Prius to AWD, drop the 2JZ-GTE in, "ruin it"(mod it up to/past 850 HP), and install a high-performance Baldor electric motor. in other words, with just an I6, you could slaughter a Bugatti Veyron and an SSC Ultimate Aero in just seconds... all while getting 45 mpg

No flamming necessary, this thread is not dead at all. I have actually been researching this pretty hard this past month. Gonna try to see if I can build it as part of my thesis for school.
Newest idea to the project is to use the 2ML70 out of a hybrid tahoe. So it would retain hybrid status.
I have no expectation of this being an easy project. I just want to challenge myself. This is LS1tech, and i am a huge fan of LS powertrain, so there is no chance of me going with a different engine.
As far as your name, are you claiming you have a v8 prius? or just tossing out the idea...
I agree, but im not sure whether I will/would persue a low 8 second turbo setup or go with a 500+ci N/A setup...
