Default conversion exhaust?

Im working on my foxbody lsx swap. I am having a tough time deciding on what exhaust to use. I already have 1 3/4 kooks Lt's and was thinking of using a 3" x pipe. The motor has an ls6 cam, and i am not looking for a extrememly loud setup. I want good sound not just loud. I was looking into keeping tailpipes on this as well. What mufflers have you been using..like/dislike?? I have been thinking hooker aero chambers.. Is 3" the way to go on everything even in a 400rwhp car?? Would 3" xpipe reduced to 2.5 tails be ok to do or stay 3" back. I know tailpipes usually fit like sh#t on these cars. Pics and sound clips would be great!

You can make the power you want using 2.5 inch tails and then some. Lots of mustang guys have made 7,8,900 hp forced through 2.5in tailpipes and mufflers. Any of the aftermarket catbacks fit pretty well as long as you dont go cheap. Magnaflows sound great. Dynomax Ultra Flos do as well... Anything straight thru really. Aero chambers are good mufflers too. I would only really do three inch if you're looking to make big NA power down the road or if you are building a custom catback otherwise just by a kit and call it good.

I dont plan on going crazy with this cars setup. Its way to clean to turn into a strait race car and i am building it for the street. With my ford motor i ran a flowmaster catback 2.5"tails. I still have the tails and could possible use them for this. I had heard that the ls1's like the bigger exhaust more. I had aero chamber on my 98 ss and it made great power and a nice sound at good price. These ultra flows look good too.

ls1 is still stock internals for now and it sounds just like a stock foxbody with flowmasters

They do like bigger exhaust but I dont think at the level your targeting it will be worth the money spent vs power gained if any. I say use your tails and throw some magnaflows or ultra flows in where the flowturds were and call it good. You will love the sound, not have any drone and make great power. The magnaflows are a bit cheaper than ultra flows generally and are really the same shiz other than the name. One has more fiberglass inside than the other is the main difference.

I am using Kooks headers into a 3 inch x-pipe. I am using my same 2.5 inch mac catback. I have always liked the sound of mac exhaust . The tailpipes look nice and tuck up under the bumper good to.
