Default LS-1 in an aircraft

I am building a Jaguar (Prowler Aviation) kit with a modified LS-1. The engine was modified by the kit designer, who has retired and closed his business. There is one aircraft currently flying with this engine, but several are under construction.

Good luck with your project. It could be time to start a new category..."...LS1 AVIATION", of course!

I'm surprised no one has talked about this LS1 powered VTOL. Link

I remember seeing a set up like that at a booth in Oshkosh a few years back. Thought it was kind of odd. The LS1 is a nice engine, but seems a little complicated for an aircraft. Are you using the PCM or magnetos? What about fuel system? Fuel injected or carbed? I also have my A&P and would love to hear more about your set up. Pics would be nice too

I think the LS1 would be a natural for aircraft use. I would have 2 PCMs & 2 sets of Coilpacks for redundancy. The limp home mode for coolant loss is another nice safety measure. I would just buy one of the ARE dry sump oil pans and call it good. I am sure there are other issues, but I am just pulling this off the top of my head

I wouldn't fly without twin magnetos and what about the oiling system? Best not do any loops, or dives, or stalls, or anything.

Default Psru

What PSRU are you planning on running ??? Not familier with the Prowler.... I am building scale P-51 from Boeve plans. Want to use LS6 or the marine version Vortec 6000 but haven't figured out the computer end.

The best I can figure is a marine application for the Vortec but can't find a GM OEM or 3rd party that will discuss the possibility.

I currently am looking at the Geschwender PSRU.

DaleMX, you sound like you are quite cautious. You will stay on the ground but it will not be in a Jeep Liberty. Do you stay in when it snows too? Maybe you could change your login name to LS1Tech_Mom. Sorry, I couldn't resist.
