I would say driveshaft length or angle. If it were chassis or drivetrain flex it would likely crack further forward.

when you break the tailshaft housing is the trans junk, or do you repair it?
Are broken trans worth anything - I have one, and was wondering whether to toss it or ...

maybe you have a broken motor mount causing the tranny mount to take up the slack ?
