Default Fuel Filter

Hey fuel system gurus, I went to my local Cadillac dealer to do the crank learn on my LY5 install and while I was there the tech measured my fuel PSI and found it at 85 on the rail! I am using the stock 2008 fuel pump module but I didn't know there a a control module for the fuel pump so I am running way too high. The tech told me that the CTS filter is just like the Vett one with the PSI return to the tank and showed me one and it looks the similar. Rock Auto has them; Delco one (GF897) for $18.83 and the Wix (33889) one for $10.36 but the engine side looks like it uses a different fitting.

Cars listed are:
CADILLAC CTS (2004 - 2007)
CADILLAC CTS V (2004 - 2007)
CADILLAC SRX (2004 - 2009)
CADILLAC STS (2005 - 2010)
CADILLAC STS PLATINUM (2008 - 2009)

Can anyone verify that it would have the regulator built in? My AllData subscription does not have Cadillac so I cannot read the function of the fuel system. If it does, it may be a much cheaper alternative to the vette...

Thanks

Holy Hell that'd be cheap for sure. I wish you've brought this up a week ago. I just ordered a vette one for 29 off of ebay.

It looks like we can use Dorman 800-170 for the output line if this would work...

Does anyone have an all data sub for a 04-07 cts-v that they can verify if the filter is the pressure regulator?

This may have been a false hope, when I got one it flows freely from the 5/16" on the same side as the 3/8" feed. Looks like I will be using the vette filter....

Why do you guys buy these from eBay? The filters aren't magical, my local chain parts store has them in stock. When they don't have them in stock they can get them from their warehouse within 24 hours or less.

What do you mean "flows freely?" If it is like the Vette filter there is a pressure in and tank return on the same side and a pressure out on the opposite. I doubt it's going to work properly unless all three ports are hooked up properly. If these will work for our applications I would rather use them since you don't have to pay "corvette tax." As you noted this filter is used across much of the Cadillac line making it much more available and thus cheaper than a Corvette filter.

I just put on the vette filter (vet tax and all) and you cover the supply end and try to blow into it nothing comes out of the return, the cadi one is free flowing out of the return... I was thinking it would be a less expensive option, but it did not look like it.

well mainly because so far the cheapest I've found them around here is $50 so I saved a little and didn't need it that day anyway

Interesting. It HAS to work though, they use it on the Cadillacs. I do have to admit I never thought of blowing through mine before I installed it.

Really??? Wow. I bought mine for $34 but it was last year during the summer. If they are $50 now I might try this when it dies. For $50 it makes sense but I was looking at it like "you saved $6 but had to wait for it and pay shipping??? There has to be more to this story." Good to know you aren't completely insane (car hobby withstanding).
