Awesome build, very nicely done. Looks like top notch fab work to, great job.
That underside shot of the exhaust is sick. It must sound insane.
Great job.

That's hard to say because it has not been a continious build. It got worked on when time allowed. But I'd guess the "cage" part of it took 120+ hours... But that's just a guess.

And a little update on this project. It's at the carpet shop right getting that stuff done... Hope to have it back tomorrow night. Then I'll finish the wiring and hopfully be at the track next weekend for some test and tune passes. I did take it for a spin around the block before I loaded it up for the carpet shop... Lets just say that was an interesting little ride and leave it at that.

Thanks! And I made the front and mid plates. But my one piece front plate will only work with a Jesel belt drive cam set-up...

Ran the car for the first time today. I had traction issues because I didn't have anything set-up, but I did manage a few N/A passes. 9.92 @ 139 with 1.50 sixty foot times. I figure with a little tweaking, I can get it to 9.60-70's without too much trouble... Then I'll start tuning it with the nitrous on. But all in all I'm happy with my first outing.

Thanks. It's not really geared or have the right converter for N/A passes, but it's doing pretty well. I went out again this weekend to try out the nitrous but for some unknown reason, it did not work... I gotta go chance some wires now. :-/ But I did get it to dead hook on D/R's. which is good. My trans brake launches @ 4000 <(that was the most I could get it to stall) the car deal hooked and only barley lifted the tires at the hit. Got a new PB of 9.82 with the same mph of 139... But my 60' came down to 1.43 <(Which is OK for a 3.70 gear and a tight converter) I think when I get the bottle working mid to low 8,s @ 165-ish should not be a problem, even with this little motor... But time will tell.

And here are some pics of the finished interior. I still have to make a collar around the steering shaft, but it's pretty much finished.

What was your final engine setup? I re-read but just saw the estimated HP.

Your setup looks great and 9.8s is amazing for an N20 setup.

Thanks, guys... My first outing was pretty much a spin fest. I was leaving on the foot brake because it was worse off the tranny brake. It would start spinning about 15 feet out and even short shifting like I did in that video would not calm it down. If you listen closely, you can hear folks gasp thinking I'd lost it... Lots of fun. But it's hooking like a mad bastard now.

As far as the engine goes, this is what I ended up with. The block is a LS3 with a 4.0" stroke. 415-ish CID. The block is a production piece but it has a girdle. All the internals and heads ar top notch. ARP everything, E/T Performance 4.0 LS7 style heads, GM 4150 intake, Callies crank, Carillo rods, Wiseco pistons, my own cam design ground by Cam Motion, Jesel everything, Pro System Carb right at 1000 cfm. The C/R is about 12.5:1 which is nothing radical. ARE Dry sump. The HP is around 650-ish if my math is right so again, it's nothing special. I have a MUCH better ERL block that I'm thinking about using in the project. It's a Super Deck I with all the bells a whistles and it can take the kinda nitrous I wanna throw at this thing. I won't put more than a 250-300 shot on this production LS3 block... I don't trust the production caps nor do I think I can keep if from pushing water.

I little update on this project. The "race weight" numbers are in... With me in the car <(190 lbs), 1/2 tank of gas and all the nitrous stuff installed, the car weighs 2,920. That's a little more than I was hoping, but with all the floor insulations and carpet I put in the car I'm not too surprised... And I would not change a thing.

I also figured out my nitrous issue. I took the car to the track for a couple of nitrous testing sessions and the popped badly at the hit. I thought it was the nitrous controller at first, then a wiring issues with the plate... But it was neither. It ended up being the mounting screws that hold the distributor cap housing to the Jesel belt drive distributor bracket. When the rotor button passed over the screws, it would arc to the mounting screw and the terminal at the same time. (splitting the spark between the two) N/A it would run fine. But when you hit the bottle it would blow out the spark on 4 cylinders. That was driving me crazy to find, but it's fixed now and I'm ready for another nitrous tuning session... It should rock now!
