I used hooker f body headers that on the pass side hit frame and had to have 1 pipe moved, drivers side fits right in. Also headers depend on your mounts or where your engine is mounted in the frame forward or back as of the stock engine placement. BRP might be the only headers made for g body with ls engine

I've read that the pacesetters for an F-body will work. I went with the Schoenfelds on my Monte. I have my frame mounts attached to the frame 1 set of holes back from the stock SBC location (ends up being 1" back). Had to dent the firewall a small bit for the driver side. Passenger side drops right in when the motor is in, but the 1 tube hits the lower A-arm mount. I ended up cutting a portion of the mount and denting the 1 tube some and it is in. Not crazy about the 1 tube, will probably end up cutting it and routing it in as there is room.

Seems like my buddies brp headers have a headman plate on them, but they are coated. I myself am going to use some pacesetter f-bodies and reroute the problem tube.

If you have a welder or know someone with one, probably one of the best moves. My headers (1-3/4 w/3.5" collectors) were $250. I think the pacesetters are right around the same price give or take. A few more bucks for some tubing and they should fit great. I just could not allow myself to spend $600+ on headers.

Not taking anything away from the guys who sell them, they look great, are coated for long life and hopefully fit well.

When you buy the headers for an F-body, is that for a 2000+ F-body or a 3rd gen LS1 swap header (1980s)?

Mine are the BRP/Hedman headers. I paid around $700, last year, for 1 7/8" coated headers. They are probably a little higher now.

i used 98-02 f-body headers on my g-body with no problem what so ever...and that means nothing hit,i didnt have to beat on anything and they worked fine...and dont use anything smaller than a 1 3/4 primary tube header on a ls....

What mounts are you running, billyflantos? I think I am going to use the manifolds my 5.3L came with until someone makes a better fitting product at an acceptable price.

Default g body headers

I a '79 el camino using a ls1, and I bought the stainless ebay headers. I tried to make them work but I don't want to cut the frame to much. So, I bought brp mid-length headers that I going try.

I would never buy anything again from BRP. I paid over $700 for my BRP 1 7/8 long tubes last year. A friend of mine just recently paid $589 for the same headers. I still haven't installed them so I couldn't really tell how they fit. You do need to weld the oxygen sensor bungs on them and I really am not too kean on the slip fit collectors. Oh, supposedly Phil gave me jobber price on them???? Phil if you are reading this please include a jar of vaseline with your orders. Since I still don't have them installed yet I wish I would have waited for Shawn @ RetroLsx to come out with them which I understand will be soon. By the way Shawn is a former employee of BRP. I did buy the RetroLSX oil pan and that is a very nice piece. Oh I also paid $100 dollars for Flowmaster 3" ball flanges for the collectors. For over $700 the O2 sensor bungs and the ball flanges should come already installed. Just adding my $.02 to this thread. Rich
